Arianne True, renowned for her work in understanding the self, has dedicated extensive time to exploring her own identity as someone who has been marginalized by society and who grapples with chronic illness and disability. Join Arianne as she takes us on a transformative journey, shedding light on how Western society often estranges us from our true selves, and how we navigate our way back. Delving into the impact of a changing and ailing body, Arianne offers fresh perspectives on the intertwined nature of identity, self-discovery, and the power of poetic expression. Arianne True, a queer poet and teaching artist based in Seattle, has dedicated much of her career to working with youth. As the 2023-2025 Washington State Poet Laureate, she has been recognized with several prestigious fellowships and residencies, including those from Jack Straw, the Hugo House, Artist Trust, and the Seattle Repertory Theater. A proud alumna of Hedgebrook and the MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts, Arianne currently resides in Burien with her beloved cat.
