The largest survey exhibition of Günther Förg’s works on paper, spanning over 30 years, opens at Hauser & Wirth Zurich, Limmatstrasse, this September. Förg’s works on paper were an integral part of his multi-disciplinary practice (which comprised drawing, painting, photography and sculpture) and ran parallel to his works on canvas. Executed in a variety of materials, from watercolor, acrylic and oil to charcoal, chalk and ink, these creations are considered works in their own right; instead of using them as preparatory sketches for paintings, the artist would often be inspired to paint and draw on paper after experimenting with his large-scale canvases. The exhibition includes well-known series, including his Grid, Color Field, Grey and Spot works, alongside lesser-known pieces, such as early works on paper from his studies in Munich, or later series such as Mostly Landscapes.

The Cathedral of Zurich is one of the three main churches in Zurich, Switzerland, and is designed to incorporate a variety of architectural styles such as Romanesque, post-Gothic and neo-Gothic. On the first day of landing in Zurich, it happened to rain, so I went to visit the National Museum next to the train station. You can get free tickets with Swiss pass, and the staff also gave you a coin to send a package. The storage and toilet are on the basement floor, and small suitcases should be able to be stored.

The exhibits on the first floor of the Swiss Museum can be guided in Chinese, but there is no Chinese guide on the second floor. The exhibits are not very interesting to me, but the museum is not bad, and there are not many people, which is suitable for checking in and taking pictures. In addition, the small gadgets in the gift shop are also very cute, but the prices are not beautiful.

The Zurich Museum of Art is really conscience. It is free to see paintings on Wednesday and storage is free. There will be more works by well-known painters in the new museum. If there is not enough time, go directly to the new museum. Monet, Van Gogh, Reano, Picasso and other well-known painters can be seen here at close range, it is a super generous museum. I feel that Monet has a lot of paintings.

Fraumunster Church

The Cathedral of Notre Dame Zurich is a must-check landmark! The twin towers are super eye-catching and the green spires are super mirrored. The interior of the church is simple and atmospheric, the colored windows and murals are exquisite, and the tower can also overlook the city. The location is super convenient, just on the banks of the Limat River, across the river from the cathedral opposite. Free visit, quiet and sacred, suitable for taking pictures in a daze.
