(be)longing Workshop: Where I Belong | Bethlem Gallery
Nov 16, 2024 (UTC+0)ENDED
Beckenham
Join artist Keith Clapson in this collaborative painting session exploring how we navigate where we belong in relation to others. We will be working together as a group, using techniques of splashing, dripping and squeezing paint to create a large-scale painting that represents both parts of ourselves and our collective identity. The session is a chance to create freely and playfully, with no judgements. Keith Clapson is a working ceramics artist. He studied on the Citylit Foundation in Art and Design and Citylit Ceramics Diploma. Keith currently works from a shared studio in London and is a volunteer and mentor at ADRU, The Anxiety Disorders Residential Unit at Bethlem Hospital, where Keith was an inpatient for four months in 2017. Keith teaches art classes with ADRU onsite and has also run classes with the site's forensic ward. Keith is a Bethlem Gallery artist and part of the Gallery's Collection Advisory Board. Keith says: “Art is my medicine, and I like to share my experiences of supporting my mental health through art for recovery.” This session is part of (be)longing, a Bethlem Gallery project supporting artist Daniel Regan to explore the theme of belonging in the lead up to his solo exhibition at the gallery in spring 2026. Young Driver Challenge February 2025 | Bromley College
Feb 2, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Bromley
Young Driver Challenge offers your child the chance to start their driving development in a safe controlled environment with a fully qualified Driving Instructor before their 17th birthday. All our driving instructors teach in a dual controlled car and we have strict limits as to the number of cars on the course. By learning how to control a car while they are under 17 your child will be able to start driving in a calm environment with the same instructor all the way up to taking their first lesson on the road and beyond. Your child will be taught in a very flexible way tailored to their needs and preferred learning styles. By starting early and in an ‘off road’ environment you can even save money in the long run. At Young Driver Challenge we have a wide range of surfaces for your child to explore so that they can better understand how the car handles differently in varying conditions. Most importantly unlike other young driver schemes we have plenty of space to use making it much easier to tackle a wide range of driving skills. We have a wide range of activities for your child to do which allow them better understand what is required of a driver and to start building the sense of responsibility early and in a fun way. We welcome you to sit in on the final couple of laps as this gives you a chance to see your child developing as a driver and also foster the idea of you being involved and supporting them in their driving from the very beginning. If you have a preferred instructor please enter this into the relevant box and we will do all we can to assign you to them, please note this is on a first come, first served basis. If your desired slot is not availiable call us on 0800 118 5038 and we will do all we can to accomodate you. In partnership with Bromley College, £5 from every ticket sold will be donated to our charity partner CASPA. CASPA is an award winning, unique charity, providing a support and a social hub for the autistic community in Bromley.
