A one day workshop with potter Sean Kingsley-construct oven proof pie dishes with impressed, drawn, painted images & words to make dishes uniquely yours. Construct oven proof pie dishes - perhaps variations on theme; or one each for the meat eater, the vegetarian or the vegan. Explore different forming and mark-making techniques to make dishes uniquely yours. Nothing quite beats a pie - a lovely mix of meat and/or vegetables, sometimes a white sauce, a tomato sauce, a gravy, some choice herbs and spices. Then the topping... breadcrumbs, potatoes and, of course, pastry. The old country potteries made pie dishes with the names of the meat or fish to be used in it. You can play on that tradition with your own marks, words and decorations. Please bring an apron or clothing you don't mind getting messy, a rolling pin and any reference material for ideas. Dishes will be fired at Butter Wynd Pottery and when finished (approximately four weeks) you can either pick up from Off The Rails Arthouse or have your dishes posted to you- this will cost an extra £10 which will be charged on the day. (cash only) A workshop for any level of experience. Course fee £75 Includes all materials, tools, firing, Eventbrite fees and finished dishes. Sean Kingsley runs Butter Wynd Pottery making pots for the table, kitchen and garden. He digs and prepares his own local clay and looks to develop traditional country pottery into a contemporary practice. Sean has extensive experience in all aspects of ceramics and in education, enabling new learners in clay to gain experience and, with more familiar makers in clay, to develop their expertise and create sophisticated work. Having worked at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee for the best part 25 years, Sean ran the ceramics area for the last two decades.
