Starting from theCo-Op car park the walk passes through Shifnal and under the M54 to walk along field edges to Coppice Green House. There are obvious paths across 3 fields with far-reaching views towards Lizard Wood, and a small fishing lake. Continue to Coppice Green Lane – a delightful oak tree-lined avenue with Lizard Wood on the right. After the private entrance to the wood, the walk follows a wide farm track through fields to Lizard Lane, which is followed for approximately 1.5 miles to the busy Tong – Shifnal road. After walking under the M54 again, the walk follows the Monarch’s Way and eventually passes over Bonemill Bridge, which crosses the railway line. On reaching Twybrook Cottage there is a footpath through a small copse. This can be very overgrown. The route continues forwards to Hinnington Road before turning right up this long straight lane, to return to Shifnal. Grade of Walk: Easy/Moderate Pace: Leisurely/Steady Terrain: Mixed -roads, tracks, footpaths, field edges, some sections may be muddy and/or overgrown at this time of year. Steps and Stiles: No steps, some stiles. Dog Friendly: NO Walk Leader: Linda Birtwhistle Specific Walk Information:Some roads can be busy Essential Information for Walkers All walks take place within the Ironbridge Gorge which will naturally include uphill and downhill sections. Please come prepared for the walk, with water, drinks, snacks and lunch as appropriate as it is not possible to purchase items on route. Good walking boots/shoes are essential and be prepared for wet or sunny weather- possibly both in the same day! Children ( Under 18’s ) are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult with parental responsibility and be capable of the distance, pace and duration of the walk. Please allow plenty of time to reach your event, parking can be tricky in the gorge! It is possible to reach Ironbridge via public transport but there are limited services.
