The 2023 Tupper Lake Plein Air Festival invites artists to register and capture the beauty of this historic lumberjack town, nestled in the breathtaking Adirondack Mountains during the vibrant fall foliage season. The festival will take place from October 4th to October 8th, 2023, at the Tupper Arts gallery located at 106 Park St. On the day of registration, artists can visit the gallery starting at 8am. For those who register online, painting can begin anytime on October 4th. Artists will not be required to get their canvasses stamped before painting, as the festival will operate on an honor system to ensure fairness. Maps and information about the area, as well as guidance for artists who are unfamiliar with the region, will be available at the gallery. During the festival, artists will have the opportunity to paint various scenic views, including Tupper Lake, Raquette Pond, Lake Simond, Bog River Falls, the Raquette River, and many more picturesque locations. The town itself offers a charming array of architectural structures, both old and new, which serve as inspiration for artistic interpretation. From the breathtaking vistas visible from Raymond Hill to the panoramic display of the Seward Range behind L P Quinn Elementary School, Tupper Lake boasts some of the most stunning landscapes in the Adirondacks. Completed canvasses are encouraged to be turned in at the gallery as they are finished, facilitating the hanging process. The show and sale of the artwork will be held on October 7th and 8th, 2023, from 10am to 5pm. An esteemed panel of artists will judge the show, and awards will be given for various categories, including "People's Choice." For artists interested in selling their work at the gallery, arrangements can be made with Evie Longhurst, the Director of Operations. The 2023 Tupper Lake Plein Air Festival promises to be an inspiring and enriching experience for artists seeking to capture the essence of this historic town and its stunning surroundings.
