How Speed Dating Works in Nottingham When you arrive at the Nottingham venue you will be greeted by our friendly professional hosts. Once everyone has arrived and registered we will briefly explain the format of the evening. The ladies will then be asked to make their way to their allocated table. Once the ladies are seated the gentlemen will be asked to proceed to their first date. You will have 4 minutes to chat to each date, once the 4 minutes is over we will ring a bell to indicate the time is up and for the gentlemen to move to their next date. Four minutes is long enough to see if you click with the person you are talking to and whether you would like to see them again and also short enough if you don't. At the end of each date you have a brief few moments to make some notes on the person you have just dated. This is something to help jog your memory for the post event matching process the next day. Half way through the event you will have an interval break so you can nip to the toilet or top up your drink. Once all the dates are over you have the opportunity to stay on at the venue to mingle freely with others. Please remember to take your dating card home with you to assist you in entering in your ticks and potential matches. Sage is helping SMBs decarbonise through tech solutions and education. Conrad Langridge, Sage Earth: “We have seen the success of the People Planet Pint series run by Adam and the team, and having attended a number of sessions we know the value this is bringing the small business community, we wanted to support People Planet Pastry series to build on that success but in a way that focuses on SMB decarbonisation as a direct action." Embroidery Workshop | The Bead Shop (Nottingham) Ltd

Jul 19, 2025 (UTC+1)
Nottingham
Cultural Experiences
The first time I ran this Embroidery Workshop is was only 3 hours long and those few hours went in a flash. As soon as we got really into everything and relaxed our time was up. So I have decided to extend the class and make it 5 hours (10am to 4pm with an hour break for lunch around 1pm). This is an Embroidery workshop with a little difference. One of the things I love about Embroidery is that you can use pretty much anything. In my final pieces on my Fine Art degree I stitched handmade paper into an embroidery. I look at many throw away items and wonder about their potential for all sorts of creative things. Like many creative people I have a collection of interesting bits n bobs like packaging with a nice texture, a shiny wrapper or a lovely (but annoying) bit of ribbon from inside your clothes. I decided to incorporate some of these into an embroidery along with lots of different embroidery stitches. This example includes sweet wrappers and off cuts of ribbon as well as beads and embroidery thread. This is a great little workshop to learn a few embroidery stitches and to (re)use some more unusual items. It’s also a fun way to spend a few hours experimenting and relaxing. You are welcome to bring along any interesting fibres, papers, wrappers and materials you’d like to incorporate into your designs. We will also have plenty of thread, beads, sequins, fabric and various materials to play with too. Some of the beads used in this workshop are quite small. So if you usually use a magnifier or glasses for close work, please bring those along with you. Drinks are provided, but lunch isn’t, however there are loads of great cafes and shop near by to buy lunch. You’re more than welcome to bring along a packed lunch to eat in the workshop room. All materials are provided for the workshop as well as refreshments. You will receive a 10% off voucher to use in store or online to stock up on supplies after the workshop (valid for 1 month). As well as a 50% discount on all teas and coffees in our café (valid for 1 week). Information Source: The Bead Shop (Nottingham) Ltd | eventbrite

Welcome to the BAMREF Referee Conference! Date: [Sunday July 20 2025] Location: The Meadows - Notts County Football Club BAMREF National Conference 2025 - “#BreakingTheCeiling” Get ready to be part of the most exciting event of the year! Join us at the Notts County Football Club for the BAMREF National Conference 2025. This year's theme is all about #BreakingTheCeiling and reaching new heights in your Refereeing journey . The BAMREF Conference 2025 offers a powerful, forward-looking agenda that brings together referees, leaders, and change-makers to advance equity, diversity, and inclusion across football officiating. Designed to be as interactive as it is inspiring, the day’s programme combines keynote talks, dynamic panels, creative installations, and practical breakout sessions to foster growth, community, and actionable insight. Kicking off with a high-energy networking game, Referee Bingo, the morning transitions into a keynote exploring EDI strategies that translate into tangible leadership outcomes, followed by a state-of-play panel moderated by BAMREF Chairman Darren Lewis. The conversation unpacks both the progress and persistent gaps in the game, offering bold strategies for structural change. Mid-morning features an immersive installation—Wall of Reflection—where personal stories of resilience are shared, reminding attendees of the quiet strength it takes to remain in the game. A youth-led session builds a toolkit for resilient refereeing, capturing crowd-sourced wisdom for future generations. The afternoon blends play and provocation, from a lighthearted refereeing twist on Simon Says, to Referees in the Spotlight, a discussion on referee visibility and cultural impact. A second keynote confronts the overlooked barriers faced by Black, Asian, and Mixed Heritage women in sport, offering a call to structural redesign over symbolic gestures. Attendees then dive into tailored breakout sessions covering referee simulations, pitch etiquette, neurodiversity awareness, and CPR fundamentals—each equipping participants with practical tools for on- and off-field leadership. The day concludes with a vital panel on the experiences of women in officiating, foregrounding culturally intelligent mentorship, systemic change, and the need for intersectional equity. Closing reflections tie together insights, gratitude, and a clear path forward.. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity! Information Source: BAMREF | eventbrite

As you and others move carefully towards one another, the robots respond in real time, playing and creating new embrace gestures through an AI system designed by the artists. Together, humans and machines generate a shared choreography of touch and trust. A screen above shows how the AI interprets your movements and words (prompts) of onlookers, creating a dream-like loop of human-machine interaction, while meeting the unknown. You can take part in the embrace or simply watch as others merge in a strange and beautiful dance. This is a gentle, thoughtful invitation to ask: · What does it mean to embrace someone—or something such as a robot? · Can robots care for us the way humans can? · How will AI shape our embraces in the future? · And what kind of memories can we make with AI by embracing each other? A screen above shows how the AI interprets your movements and the words (prompts) of onlookers, creating a dream-like loop of human-machine interaction, while meeting the unknown. You can take part in the embrace or simply watch as others merge in a strange and beautiful dance. This performance-installation is a poetic, provocative encounter between art and science, focussed on the social body. It explores what it means to trust, feel, and connect—beyond the predictable mechanics and limitations of “safe” touch. In the heart of the experience is a living sculpture of movement, consent, vulnerability and play, where humans and machines attempt to embrace—and be embraced. No prior experience needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to be part of something different. Created by award-winning artists Karen Lancel and Hermen Maa t ( www.lancelmaat.nl ), pioneers in AI, robotics and human intimacy. Their work has been shown at the Venice Biennale, Ars Electronica, ZKM Karlsruhe , and more. Important Notes: · This is a live, interactive experience. Audience participation is invited but not required. · Suitable for ages 12+ under 18s should be accompanied by an adult. · Accessibility information: This is an accessible event Information Source: Richard Ramchurn | eventbrite
