We are deelighted to have Mercury award nominees Led Bib in the house, their radical styles have been compared to John Zorn, Ornette Colman and Frank Zappa - whats not to like? '“ a joyous explosion of noise that brought me nothing but a contented grin” UK Jazz News “Their whimsical sax noodlings and pitch-bending north African inflections, which give way to thundering rock power (Ceasefire), their Zappa-like hooks descending to free-dirgey staggers (On the Roundabout), and a little amiable folk-dancing (Marching Orders), the unique Led Bib chemistry still bubbles.” Guardian Their new album will be released on legendary US based Cuneiform Records in August 2025. The album represents a whole new departure for Led Bib . With their 2019 release ‘ It’s Morning ’ on the renowned RareNoise records, their unique song based collaboration marked the departure of their keyboard player and it seemed like it could be the end of the 20 year history of this ensemble, but 2024 brought a new opportunity. An offer to work as artists in residence at Hotel Pupik in the Austrian countryside to develop a completely new quartet sound without keyboards. We cannot wait to hear the newest itteration of this epic band! SATURDAY 20th SEPTEMBER 2025 | 7pm | £12 ADV / £8 CONCS / PWYC* Information Source: The Rose Hill | eventbrite

We are incredibly honoured to welcome award-winning journalist and international bestselling author, Xinran. Xinran joins us to speak on her latest, The Book of Secrets : the story of a family in modern China with a history of deceit, betrayal and political intrigue, and the communist party's long shadow over them, from the Cultural Revolution to today. There will be time for a Q&A at the end of the evening, follwed by a book signing. About the Book: Following the lives of military intelligence officer Jie and his wife Moon, The Book of Secrets weaves recently found material into a narrative that not only illuminates the shadowy world of intelligence in China, but also the emotional tragedies that political extremism inflicted on those working within.Drawing on Jie’s own vivid biography of his youth, Xinran pieces together his trajectory as he joins the great hope of the Chinese young – the Communist Party – and becomes a loyal cadre until the late 1970s when, as a chief in the security forces, he makes a decision that will poison his family against him. This is a totally unique behind-the-scenes account of a family torn apart by the Tiananmen Square massacre and the attempts of Jie to finally open up the Chinese system to the people, pieced together from an extraordinary archive of personal diaries and letters. About the Author: Xinran is a British–Chinese author, journalist and activist. Her first book, The Good Women of China (2002) became an international bestseller and The Promise was shortlisted for the Society of Authors Translation Prize. In August 2004 Xinran set up ‘The Mothers’ Bridge of Love’ (MBL), which reaches out to Chinese children all over the world. By creating a bridge of understanding between China and the West, MBL ultimately wants to help bridge the huge poverty gap that still exists in China. Concerts Alternative
Refund policy You can get a refund if t his event is rescheduled or cancelled. Following a series of breathtaking performances at prestigious European festivals, headline shows across 10 countries, and a tour across Germany and Czechia alongside dark-electro pioneers Project Pitchfork, tAngerinecAt is set to return to the UK to celebrate the release of their new album, Grief. Originating in Ukraine and residing in North Wales, tAngerinecAt embodies a rich tapestry of musical influences that intertwine West and East. The duo conveys a strong anti-war, anti-fascist, and anti-ecocide message, where the hauntingly intimate allure of dark jazz a cappella coexist with the fierce energy of hammering industrial electronic beats and poignant spoken word. It reflects the profound mastery of Ukrainian-born Zhenia Purpurovsky, a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, arranger, conductor, and actor, in partnership with the visionary sound designer and multi-instrumentalist Paul Chilton who hails from Britain. With a degree in folkloristics, Purpurovsky adeptly juggles rich cultural symbols, creating a tapestry of meaning. 'Grief' emerges as a masterfully crafted concoction of free-spirited, underground resistance brewed in a cauldron of haunting Twin Peaks-esque soundscapes and cathartic revelations, while shifting between languages. Even with its bleak undertones, this work evokes themes of hope, love, unity, and beauty, providing a counterpoint to escapism by embracing reality and navigating through despair to discover pathways to liberation. Grief is love. Official website ______________________________________ 'I’ve never heard anything quite like this... Chilling and Unsettlingly Beautiful... It’s Stunning' - BBC Wales 'The outfit fuses electronica and drone with industrial flourishes and beautifully dark songwriting… If it doesn’t get your blood pumping then you may as well check yourself into the crematorium…’ - Louder Than War 'Your music is always a magical ritual for me. Glass was a wilder ritual, sometimes even bloodier, a dance on broken glass, but Grief is a different magic, the magic of a hermit, the depths of the sea, cold rocks and a ruined lonely church, in whose bells the wind still blows. Yes, that’s exactly what it sounds like, as if you literally took your heart out of your chest - literally a bare heart, blood, history, everything just screams.' - Marvoy, Prague 'Drawing from the personal and political, the duo have crafted another bold, passionate and artistically accomplished album. It’s certainly a dark and inarguably intense record yet never one that’s devoid of hope. Grief is the sound of perseverance, the triumph of art and the human spirit in the face of adversity.' - Andy Brown, Louder Than War 'It's as if you're someone calling out from ancient times. From the era of the first civilisations, the search for the first shelter, the first home, the first love, the first kiss, the first sex, the first fire. INCREDIBLE!' - Sahin Cetin, Ankara Special guest: José Macabra José Rivas, aka José Macabra (BA Sound Arts, UAL / MA Fine Art, Kent University), is a Spanish-born, London-based sound artist, composer, and performer whose work spans noise, electroacoustic ritual, and experimental sound performance. Known for immersive, emotionally charged live sets, Macabra's sonic world explores altered states, queer resistance, and collective catharsis through voice, drone, distortion, and found sound. José teaches Sound Arts and Music Production at London College of Communication (UAL) and has worked across various educational, curatorial, and therapeutic contexts. His work draws from industrial and noise music, ritualistic electronics, soundscape composition, and the darker edges of techno, blending performance art with sonic experimentation. They have collaborated with Kimatica Studio, Ron Athey, Ernesto Tomasini, HR Giger, Sally Mann, Martin Delaney, Nicola Serra, and others, as well as organisations such as UCL, UAL, SAE Institute, Unite the Union, and HMPPS Belmarsh. Their sound design and performances have featured at venues and festivals including the Barbican, Tate Modern, National Gallery X, BFI, Tate Liverpool, The Photographer's Gallery, Museum of Consciousness, and internationally in Berlin, Madrid, Athens, Barcelona, Brussels, Lisbon, and Milan. Macabra's performance with Tangerinecat on 3rd October 2025 promises a visceral, hypnotic exploration of sonic unrest and an improvised ritual of voice, field recordings, noise, and memory aimed straight at the unconscious. PLEASE NOTE TICKETS FOR ALL EVENTS ARE NOW BOOKABLE DIRECTLY THROUGH OUR WEBSITE. CLICK HERE TO VISIT WEBSITE AND BOOK TODAY! During this 1.5 hour lesson we will be learning about the art of Kokedama, starting with making our own bonsai soil. Once we have mixed the different substrates we will work with moss and our plant to make a moss wrapped plant base. We will be learning how to make a simple macrame hanger made from twine Whats included? Refreshments, a medium sized plant and all materials. If the workshop is for a gift we recommend you buy a gift voucher from our website or in store so the benefactor can redeem at their leisure. You can cancel for a full refund up to 7 days before the event. Please do so via Eventbrite. If you have to cancel within 7 days for ANY reason, then we will try and re-sell your tickets. If they do not sell, then we will be unable to book you onto another workshop or issue a refund. We know this sounds harsh, but unfortunately we are a small business, we will have bought fresh materials for the workshop and they will simply go to waste if you are unable to attend. However we do have a brilliant solution - which is that we would be happy to make you up a kokedama that you would have made for you to collect at your leisure! OR we can provide you with all the materials and lend you the tools for you to create your own kokedama at home, so you will not miss out. We reserve the right to cancel the workshop at any time. In this case you will be issued a full refund or offered another workshop time. Information Source: Between Two Thorns | eventbrite
