Join Tamarin Norwood, a writer and academic, in conversation with Victoria Browne as they explore the profound impact of creativity and narrativity in the context of miscarriage, baby loss, and other forms of pregnancy without birth. In situations where these experiences are characterized by ambiguity, intense embodiment, and a lack of cultural narratives to draw upon, the question arises: how can individuals construct or reclaim meaning through creative expression, whether on a personal, community, or structural level?
Dr. Tamarin Norwood's expertise in fine art, complemented by her DPhil from the University of Oxford, has positioned her as a leading voice in this field. As a Leverhulme Early Career Research Fellow at Loughborough, she collaborates with national baby loss charities to understand the ways in which bereaved parents create rituals and assign meaning in the absence of cultural support. Tamarin's groundbreaking work has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Vice-Chancellor's Award for impactful research and innovation in 2023, and the Lancet Wakley Essay Prize in 2021 for her essay "Something Good Enough." Her memoir, "The Song of the Whole Wide World," is set to be published by Indigo Press in early 2024.
