Art Club is an engaging and educational program designed for girls aged 11-16. This unique after-school initiative offers hour-long sessions where participants can explore the works of renowned artists such as Elina Brotherus, The Guerrilla Girls, and Hannah Hoch. By incorporating fun craft activities, Art Club aims to foster creativity and artistic expression in a casual and social setting.
During these four weeks, participants will have the opportunity to experiment with various art techniques, including photography using DSLRs, collage, Zine making, and blackout poetry. The hour-long sessions will provide hands-on experience, allowing attendees to create their own masterpieces, which they can proudly take home with them.
Art Club is part of a broader Art and Activism program, generously supported by the TNL Community Fund and Canon UK. The program aims to uplift and empower young girls through the medium of art. By exploring the works of influential artists and learning about different techniques, participants will gain a deeper appreciation for the world of art and develop their own artistic skills.
Art Club will take place at The Hundred Heroines Museum in Gloucester. The address for the venue is Unit 1-3 1st Floor, Gloucester, GL1 1PA. The program will start on January 4, 2024, and will be completely free of charge, allowing young girls to access quality art education without any financial burden.
