An accredited Interpretive Hiking Guide, accomplished outdoor photographer, backcountry skier and glacier traveler, Stories of Ice is her third book. Stories include the mother/daughter duo who skied for five months from Squamish to Skagway, carrying their tents and food. North America’s earliest glacier studies beginning in 1894 on BC’s Illecillewaet Glacier. Or the ski mountaineer who fell in a crevasse, was rescued, then learned his pack melted out 12 years later! Or how BC protesters camped for weeks to protect their cherished local glacier from development. All set to a stunning collection of glacier photographs , and sprinkled with humour and insight . Lynn will also share information on the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, how the initiative aims to recognize all that our glaciers give us, and how their melting will affect us. Standing show, limited seating. All ages event. Come early for dinner & drinks, seating for dining in the upstairs gallery and on the patio. Tickets: Early Bird $20 / Advance $25 / Door $30 8pm - 8:45pm opening set by Tequila Monkeys 9pm - 10pm Uncle Strut headlining set In a short amount of time, Vancouver-based indie band Uncle Strut have turned their dive bar beginnings into sellout headlining shows at legendary venues like their hometown’s Hollywood Theatre, and have shared stages with acclaimed acts such as the Goo Goo Dolls, Baby Jake, and George Thorogood. Over the last four years, singer/guitarist Tyson McNamara, bassist Simon Tejani, and drummer Quincy Flowers have honed their signature blend of surf-infused indie pop, evoking the hazy sun-soaked nostalgia of the '70s. With the recent addition of guitarist Jasper Matthias, the band is kicking off 2025 with the anticipated announcement of their debut album, and an upcoming tour acrossCanada. Home At Last, Uncle Strut’s first full-length album, seamlessly combines the easygoing charm of Australian surf rock with a deep respect for rock and pop traditions. The album’s playful yet sincere energy draws comparisons to Spacey Jane and Ocean Alley, whilst channeling the spirit of late '60s psychedelia. Influences from The Doors’ mystical allure and The Beach Boys’ kaleidoscopic vision are ever-present, making Home At Last a captivating listen. Uncle Strut will release Home At Last on May 16th, and in celebration will embark on a tour across British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Quebec in support of their first single, Waiting For You. Opening set by Tequila Monkeys The Tequila Monkeys are a band that blend the smooth vibes of reggae, the trippy grooves of psych-rock, and the upbeat energy of ska into a sound all their own. Drawing inspiration from modern laid-back tunes of bands like Ocean Alley and Sticky Fingers together with the dynamic rhythms of the classics of Sublime and Bob Marley... The Tequila Monkeys create music that feels both nostalgic and fresh. Their music weaves together infectious rhythms, dreamy guitar riffs, lively keys and soulful vocals, creating a vibrant atmosphere that’s impossible to resist and always gets people moving. Whether it’s beach days, forest raves or snowy après.. The Tequila Monkeys bring the party and a banger show wherever they go. HSSS Prom Committee Fundraiser featuring She Stole My Beer | Brackendale Art Gallery

Join us for Howe Sound Secondary School's Prom Committee Fundraiser Featuring She Stole My Beer 8pm Saturday June 7, 2025 $50 advance/door standing show, limited seating, dance floor seating for socializing upstairs in the gallery or on the upper patio About The Band: Like many great bands, She Stole My Beer is tough to hang a label on. Originating from Vancouver’s north shore, the septet has been at it for over 20 years. Two albums, a touring period, and a rude awakening to the realities of the music business have all come and gone but the live shows live on with just enough infrequency to keep their devoted fan base coming back in droves. The band prefers to keep the labeling obtuse and unofficially (the band doesn’t do much officially) list influences like Lynard Skynyrd, Neil Young, and John Prine. The result is a live show made up of a mix of covers and originals with a repertoire large enough that they never been accused of ever having done the same show twice. While the studio days are gone and the gigs are restricted by personal schedules and the band rarely wanders far from it’s base in the BC lower mainland, they still pack ‘em in and never struggle to find a venue to take on a guaranteed sell out. Their following in Whistler reflects the population of a flourishing town that doesn’t quite want to let go of a lost era when a SSMB gig was a fairly regular event. Despite the transient nature of the community, new faces can been seen at every show, mixed in with those of the long time locals looking to escape back to a simpler era. The crowd you see today still brings the same energy but they likely scrambled to find a babysitter to make it out to the show (in the old days all they needed was a safe place to lock up their bike and a little help scrounging up the $10 to get in). It’s a huge credit to both the showmanship and the music itself that a SSMB gig is still an event that gets the town buzzing. All grown up and with real jobs, She Stole My Beer now approaches their sprinkling of gigs as a social event. An opportunity for some old friends to get together and provide an escape for their fans in the process. It provides for a truly organic musical experience, something that many of the bands’ fans may find quite fleeting these days. By attending this event, you agree that you may be photographed or filmed , and these recordings may be used for promotional and marketing purposes without compensation.
