Drawing for Story @ Salamanca Arts Centre | Salamanca Arts Centre
Nov 10, 2024 (UTC+10)ENDED
Salamanca
Drawing for Story is a workshop developed by myself and Luke Watson. It’s designed to introduce you to sketching storyboards as a way of communicating. Prior to the workshop, we ask participants to come up with a communication challenge they want to work on. What is something you've been trying to explain but are having difficulty with? We give you some tools to help you turn your story from vague to a visual storyboard. Some people have done sketchnoting classes (learning to quickly take visual notes), and we see this workshop as being a natural follow-on from that. Alternatively, it suits people who haven't done much drawing in a while (or ever), but enjoy the practice and are willing to give it a go! It'll help anyone who's trying to tell a story or advocate for humans, inside or outside an organisation. We've had corporate people, doctors, educators and parents come along, enjoy themselves and take away something useful. Some comments from participants: With each new drawing I am slowly getting better so thank you for today and for all your help previously as it's really opening up my way of thinking. Breaking down the story - this wasn't just great for the activity we completed. It's something I can utilize when trying to communicate any message. I found this class super useful in helping me think through a problem and articulate the solution. Having to tie an emotion to each part of my story made me actually assess how my business problem was affecting people emotionally.
