FORAGE & NIBBLE in Keswick (Cumbria) | Crow Park Road

FORAGE & NIBBLE in Keswick (Cumbria) | Crow Park Road

Sep 28, 2025 (UTC+1)
Keswick
Cultural Experiences
This course is designed to get you as involved as possible - this includes identifying, picking and tasting a range of wild species that will be found on the day. There will also be samples of wild food and drink for everyone to get stuck into and a pre-made wild snack! The focus with all of our workshops is on the 4 'F's of Foraging: Fungi, Fruit, Flowers and Foliage . We aim for an array of these elements on every session we run (weather and season permitting!) Event sold out or can't make this date? Head to www.foragebox.co.uk/workshops or view our Eventbrite profile to browse all available sessions. What To Expect Our 'Forage & Nibble' workshops are exactly that: you will spend the day learning how to forage with your tutor and then be treated to a 'wild snack' to put it all into context! These have become our most popular events and are available at numerous locations around the country. DURATION: 3 hours (approx 2.5 hours of foraging and 30 mins preparing and eating your wild snack) We like to keep some elements a surprise for the day, but here is what you can expect from your foraging workshop: a short introduction regarding the safety and format of the day discussions around foraging tips, safety, ethics, etiquette, sustainability and the law a circular walking route taking in different growing environments around the site. Expect a route of around 2-3km predominantly on footpaths a closer look at edible wild species and any poisonous lookalikes by a professional forager a chance to slow the pace of modern life down, meet new people and immerse yourself in a soul-nourishing activity, reconnecting with nature and discovering new flavours small tasters of wild food - this may even include freshly-picked items straight from the wild and a wild snack. Your wild snack might be something we find on the day freshly cooked in the woods, a hunk of homemade sourdough with some wild pickles and preserves, or even a big slice of cake (our tutors are decent cooks too so it could be something even better!) our workshops are run in a welcoming and informal fashion, where attendee questions and contributions are encouraged after the event, you will be sent a follow-up email containing a list of everything we found on the day. Please do not expect photos or descriptions in this email - it is purely a list for reference purposes, and we find it helps people do further research in their own time. Please note: as with most of our events, this is an educational experience and not a 'basket-filling' session . At the end of the session, there may be a small selection of our wild products and workshop vouchers available to purchase (card and cash accepted). This is a recent element of our events after enough attendees made enquiries about it - there is no pressure to buy anything having already bought tickets but sometimes people want a souvenir to take with them! Please speak to your tutor about this at the end. Who Is This Workshop For? These events are perfect for everyone - families, bushcrafters and dog-walkers alike! Nobody is made to feel out of their depth or silly for not knowing what certain things are, so these events suit absolute novices to more experienced hobby foragers alike. We strongly believe that foraging is for everyone , with all demographics welcome, regardless of age, ability, gender or ethnicity. Please read our FAQs further down the page to find out about dogs, children and mobility. In advance of your foraging workshop, we thought you might be interested in the following: Our F ield Notes website page ' What will I find on my Forage Box workshop?' Check your junk folder! If you do not do this, you may end up missing important updates or even cancellation notifications. DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: You will be asked for any dietary requirements when completing your booking. Please note that our workshops may not be suitable for vegans and coeliacs unless you inform us of these dietary requirements in advance - we may use butter or bread, for example. Bookings made within 48 hours of the event start time may not allow for your tutor to cater for specific dietary requirements - please get in touch if this is a concern. Attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle or use public transport to get to the destination. EXACT MEETING POINT: At the footpath junction past the caravan park Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/EW3cCMpuktZfwmJVA What3Words: https://w3w.co/suffice.originate.harmless PARKING: There is some free parking at the venue, but you are more likely to find pay & display parking elsewhere in Keswick. Please be considerate when leaving your car and do not block gates or access for other road users. TOILETS: Toilets are not available at the meeting point, but there are some available nearby. Please arrive well in time for the start of the workshop, allowing extra time for the distance from your parked car to the meeting point and any toilet trips - we don't tend to wait for late-comers! Your foraging guide for the day should arrive on site at least an hour before the start and will start gathering the group together approximately 15 minutes before the official start time. If you cannot find your tutor around that time, there is a chance you are looking in the wrong place, so please check the event information for the exact location (not the postcode) Signage can sometimes be limited, so keep an eye out for anyone with a foraging basket! Minimum number of guests for this event to go ahead: 8 people PLEASE NOTE: We do not provide guests with a contact telephone number for your tutor. This is for privacy purposes but also because it is impractical to do so - your tutor simply wouldn't be able to take a call whilst with a group. If you need to get in contact, please use the email function via eventbrite or our website . Information Source: Forage Box | eventbrite

IMPORTANT INFORMATION KIT LIST: What to bring with you DIETARY REQUIREMENTS: You will be asked for any dietary requirements when completing your booking. EXACT MEETING POINT: Through the gate (signposted as 'private') up the steps into the field area by the car park Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/MupFvBYRpqzGjm6o7 What3Words: https://w3w.co/inspects.winter.grabs PARKING: There is plenty of free parking at this venue. Please be considerate when leaving your car and do not block gates or access for other road users. TOILETS: Toilets are available at the start but not on the walking route. This is for privacy puropses but also because it is impractical to do so - your tutor simply wouldn't be able to take a call whilst with a group. If you need to get in contact, please use the email function via eventbrite or our website . Start getting excited! The Texas Area Association of Reformed Baptist Churches (TAARBC) is excited to sponsor the 7th Annual TAARBC Pastors’ Conference on September 9-10 , 2025 , at Heritage Baptist Church in Mansfield, Texas. Even though this is a conference geared towards pastors, we welcome all attendees who are interested in the subject at hand. These lectures will no doubt encourage and edify the pastor and layman alike. Our association has determined that the theme for our Pastors’ Conference from year to year will be to cover a chapter in the 2nd London Baptist Confession of Faith. Last year, we covered chapter 5 in the confession, "Of Divine Providence". This year, each of the lectures will address chapter 21, "O f Christian Liberty and Liberty of Conscience" . Our featured speakers will be Dr. James Renihan, Dr. J. Ryan Davidson, and Dr. Jason Montgomery . Dr. Renihan is the President and Professor of Historical Theology for International Reformed Baptist Seminary. After a ministry of church planting in central Massachusetts, Dr. Renihan and his family moved to Escondido, CA in 1998 to begin serving as Dean of the newly formed Institute of Reformed Baptist Studies. He led that work for 20 years, and when it became IRBS Theological Seminary in 2018, he was appointed the first president. Dr. Renihan has served as pastor in churches in Massachusetts, New York, and California. He is a graduate of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (PhD), Seminary of the East (MDiv), Trinity Ministerial Academy, and Liberty Baptist College (BS). His academic work focused on the Second London Baptist Confession and the broader Puritan theological context from which it arose. Dr. Renihan is the author of numerous books including, For the Vindication of the Truth: Baptist Symbolics Volume 1 (The Founders Press), Faith and Life for Baptists: The Documents of the London Particular Baptist Assemblies, 1689-1694 and To the Judicious & Impartial Reader: Baptist Symbolics Volume 2 (The Founders Press). Dr. Davidson has been serving as the pastor of Grace Baptist Chapel (Hampton, VA) since August of 2008. He has been married to his wife Christie for nearly two decades, and they have four children. Dr. Davidson is a graduate of Samford University (BA), The College of William & Mary (MEd) in Counseling, and Southern Seminary (ThM) in Louisville, KY, and received his PhD in Early Church History/Pastoral Theology from The Free University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. He has contributed to various academic journals and has had the opportunity to teach pastoral theology around the world. He is the author of Green Pastures: A Primer on the Ordinary Means of Grace , Thinking through Anxiety: A Brief Christian Look and Abortion, and Brill Encyclopedia of Early Christianity Online. Dr. Montgomery is one of the pastors at Christ Covenant Church Reformed Baptist (Fort Worth, TX). He has served as pastor for Faith Community Baptist Church (now CCRBC) in Fort Worth since 1998 and has been married to his wife, Janice, since 1990. They have been blessed with seven children. Dr. Montgomery completed his graduate work at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, receiving his Master of Divinity in 1997. In these fun, hands-on workshops, participants will explore the creative process of making music from the ground up, literally! We’ll work on a small, collaborative project, using ‘found sounds’, our voices and bodies, and traditional instruments to create a range of pieces that fit the day’s brief. In the afternoon, the group splits into two: one team dives into writing chords and melodies to layer over our custom beats, while the other creates original merchandise and logos to bring their musical identity to life. Whether you’re into sound, design, or both, this workshop encourages experimentation, teamwork, and self-expression. Join this playful workshop to make your own kite with This House creative in residence artist Jeanne Harignordoquy. We will meet at 5pm after the workshop for a celebratory kite flying session on the common. About the workshop... After a brief introduction of kite history and Jeanne's practice, you’ll follow a step-by-step guide to create a beautiful, flyable hexagon kite. Using bamboo, colorful paper, glue, and string, we’ll dive into the rich craft of these lightweight, joyful structures: part toy, part sculpture, part messenger. Hexagon kites have many variations and a fascinating global history: from Guyana’s large “Mad Bulls” flown at Easter, to Japan’s Rokkaku-dako used in kite fighting and festivals, and even their role in 19th-century scientific research in Europe and North America. These kites are balanced, stable, and offer an endlessly artistic canvas.Delicate yet resilient, they’re made to withstand one of nature’s most powerful forces: the wind. Jeanne Harignordoquy (she/her) is a London based, Marseille born artist exploring natural elements, textile and technology. Suitable for ages 8+ . Parents are advised to join younger children to help. Please note: the images shown are a mix of Jeanne’s past work and previous workshops. We’ll be making a hexagon kite in this session.
