Come along and learn about the plants that can be used to dye wool in a vibrant range of colours with an emphasis on the dyes used by our ancestors which can easily be grown today. See the whole dyeing process taking place from harvesting the roots and leaves, mordanting the wool and watching the colours develop in the dyebath. Embrace your wild side - what to expect: This event takes place outdoors, so be prepared to be outside in all weathers. If, however, the weather is extremely windy or heavy rain, there is a possibilty the event will be cancelled. Where to meet Please meet at our Education Centre, which is a 15 minute walk from the visitor centre and car park. What to bring/wear Our events mostly take place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! We'd recommend sturdy and waterproof footwear or wellies, and lots of layers! If it's a hot day, remember a hat and suncream! Insect repellent is highly recommended during the months of May-Sept. Toilets and catering Toilets available in the visitor centre only. The cafe will be open until 4pm and serving hot food until 3pm. Joining us on the day Please sign in at the visitor centre then make your way to the Discovey Zone woodlands. Made in Doncaster 2: Shorts, Networking and More! Join us for a fun and dynamic evening at Savoy Doncaster where we will showcase amazing local talent through short films. Meet Doncaster Filmmakers, Content Creators and Creatives! The South Yorkshire Filmmakers Network (SYFN), Business Doncaster and Doncaster Culture Partnership are coming together for another special event for filmmakers and creatives in South Yorkshire. And how about some networking, food and drinks too, all for a low bargain price? We‘ve got an hour’s worth of short films to screen, all by Doncaster-based filmmakers, followed by a Q+A with all the featured filmmakers hosted by SYFN’s Rob Speranza. We will be doing some good ol’ networking too, and we want creatives, filmmakers and content-creators from all over South Yorkshire and the surrounding region to join us. There will be REALLY NICE free nibbles and one free drink on entry too! Learn from regional filmmakers who have made great films and can share their experience: active filmmakers from the area who you can meet and talk to about their projects. All this for only £2.50! This fun-filled art session will charge your batteries. It's going to be fun, creative, relaxing and you will meet new likeminded people in this unique, creative and relaxing environment. Even if you haven’t touched a pencil since primary school, with step-by-step guidance of professional local artist Joyce Buzeman of BuzemanArt, you will create your very own master piece. Also when you are more experienced, we assure you will go away with new paint tips and paint ideas. We provide all the paint, brushes a 30 x 40cm canvas and other materials that are required. All you need is a to turn up with a good dose of enthusiasm. Why not bring your friends, family or colleagues… We start this event with a tour around the farm. Kate the owner, has been involved with cows since she was a little girl and is no stranger in the cattle show ring. Together with her husband they started their own pedigree breed British Blondes, with her price winning bull (Boxy *). She will show you around the animals before we start our painting session in the barn overlooking the fields, smelling fresh straw and air. Our aim is to unleash your own painting style and encourage you, where needed. It’s your masterpiece and at the end your paintings will all be unique to you. Painting is relaxing and takes you away from your daily worries! It's proven to relieve stress and depression. Its therefore great for mindfulness and wellbeing.
