It is 50 miles north of San Francisco, 8 miles west of Santa Rosa, 10 miles from Bodega Bay, and about 15 miles from the Russian River. Situated amidst a landscape of apple orchards, vineyards, forests, and meadows, spend a beautiful weekend at Sirens Fest!

Metal Shop: An Introduction to MIG Welding and Metal Arts | Chimera Arts and Maker Space

Note:
This is a combined all-in-one class which covers the content of the Metal Working Basics and Beginner Welding classes condensed into a single full day.

Safety overview
Setting up the shop
Lecture on metal fabrication, welding processes and more
Hands-on with metal tools
Hands-on with welding tools

Experience Level:
All are welcome! Although this class will be geared towards a beginner level. Please notify the teacher if you have previous welding/metalworking experience and how you would like to benefit from the class.
WHAT TO BRING:
If you have it, bring your own welding PPE: welding gloves, welding mask, safety glasses, and ear muffs. We do have enough for everyone to borrow, but we understand if you prefer your own.
Water (closed-top bottle)
Snacks & Lunch (although there are close by spots to grab food)
Outdoor-appropriate clothing (our class is held outdoors, rain or shine)
Clothing should be natural fibers: long sleeves, jeans and closed-toe shoes-- cottons denims, natural leather, preferably. (Synthetic fabrics like blends/polyester/rayon/nylon are plastics and will melt.)

Young Makers: Build Hack Make Summer Camp | Chimera Arts and Maker Space

A week of daily sessions, 9AM to noon. Projects will include making rockets, 3D printed motors, and robotic solar ovens. We will have guest instructors from industry and academia, including Sonoma State and Medtronic.
Suggested age range: 9 to 12 years old
The camp is five three hour sessions, Monday through Friday. 9AM to 12PM. Limit of 12 attendees.
Instructors
Milo Mitchel
graduated from Lewis and Clark College with a degree in sociology and anthropology. He started a landscaping design business in 2004. After a five year stint as a farmer for schools and restaurants, Milo taught high school science at Orchard View School for eight years and has been teaching science at Gravenstein Elementary since 2022. He is the co-founder of the Mind of a Scientist program, as well as the 3D Printed Electric Motor Design Project. https://milomitchel.com/
Joe Szuecs
(pronounced SOOCH) is a software developer, maker and musician. He taught Programming for Kids at the Sebastopol Public Library, is the President of the Board of Chimera Arts and the founder of the Maker Music Festival - a virtual festival celebrating the makers of unusual instruments.
