Join landscape architect Ann Mullins on a guided walking tour of the renowned Bauhaus-inspired Aspen Institute Campus. All participants will gather at the Doerr-Hosier Center, conveniently located at 870 Meadows Road in Aspen, Colorado. The Aspen Institute Campus is a true masterpiece, meticulously designed by Herbert Bayer, a celebrated landscape architect. Bayer's collaboration with Walter Paepcke began in 1945, with the shared goal of creating a space that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit. Together, they transformed 40 acres of ranchland into an environment that combines environmental stewardship, impeccable design, and a sense of place. During the tour, you will have the opportunity to witness the evolution of Bayer's work. Starting from his first earthworks and land art pieces in 1955, which became precursors to the influential earthworks movement of the 1960s and '70s, all the way to his final creations in the late '70s, which foreshadowed the environmental art of the '80s.
