But the real-life story of Mary Shelley, and the creation of her immortal monster, is nearly as fantastical as her fiction. Raised by a renowned philosopher father in 18th-century London, Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin is a teenage dreamer determined to make her mark on the world when she meets the dashing and brilliant poet Percy Shelley. So begins a torrid, bohemian love affair marked by both passion and personal tragedy that will transform Mary and fuel the writing of her Gothic masterwork. Imbued with the imaginative spirit of its heroine, Mary Shelley brings to life the world of a trailblazing woman who defied convention and channelled her innermost demons into a legend for the ages. On Wednesdays we wear black! Join this fun hard hitting class full of music that is HEAVY! WHAT TO EXPECT AT MOONFLOWER MOVEMENT CLASS? Moonflower Movement classes are 55 minute somatic burlesque classes focusing on sensual burlesque and fusion styles. They are about stepping into your power celebrating your body and self and connecting with your body. We will cover burlesque with a fusion of other styles including 20s - 60s vintage dance, silk veil fan dance, bellydance and temple dance styles focusing on dance as an embodied ritual in which we honour and celebrate ourself! We will work two routines over two sessions with COMPLETELY optional performances. The Moonflower Movement classes will help us build up a repertoire of dance movements and help you explore all the different ways to move your body and what your body is capable of with optional empowering burlesque fusion performance opportunities available to dancers future shows.The space is bathed in a tea light for each class as we connect with our bodies and each other and take back our power as beautiful, sensual dancers owning our bodies and reveling in its beauty! This is a aburlesque act where a rainbow silk veil will be used in the opening half of the routine. Dance based in conscious and somatic movement and in connection with or body and celebrating ourselves. Dance the sensual dance joy of silk veil fans. We have 8 practice sets available for students who do not have their own fans to dance with so you do not need silk veils fans to join this class. This class takes place in a 160 sqmm studio with giant celings to ensure dancers have all the room to move and use their silk veils fans with plenty of space! Explore silk veil dance tech, tricks and fun in a burlesque fusion context. Learn how to grip the fans in different ways, dance with closed and open fans and turn, twist, flick and flutter your fans to create beautiful shapes and textures.
