Join our specialist tutor, Michael Lin, in this “Mitsuro Hikime” (also known as Mitsuro wax) class. Experience creating jewellery using the renowned traditional Japanese wax forming technique known for its delicate striations and fluid forms. This class is great for people at different levels, from the beginner who wants to start creating unique pieces to experienced jewellers who are looking for an alternative way of working with wax. Supplied with a set amount of especially formulated wax, you will learn traditional techniques to manipulate “Mitsuro Hikime” wax and create a ring or pendant under Michael's expert instruction. In this session you will be able to immerse yourself into the 'intuitive making' philosophy of Japanese craft and create your distinctive pieces of art. Your piece will then be cast into solid silver by an expert casting team where it will be returned to you in it's finished hallmark-able state. This is an important part of the process where, as a school, we take professional steps to ensure the casting is of the highest possible quality so that the detail created in the wax is not lost in the finished silver piece. We would respectfully ask that if you do park on the industrial estate, you do not block anyone in, as other business will be trading on a saturday afternoon. The venue is a 10-15 minute walk from Bournville train station and a one-minute walk from the Pershore Road which is serviced by a number of bus routes. Please do check Saturday timetables. Please take care outside the entrance to the club as this is a road. Stairs/Accessibility The event will all take place on the ground floor of the venue, which has step-free access from the canalside. There is a fully accessible toilet also on ground-level. Please leave buggies behind if possible - they will not be allowed on the dance floor area as they are a trip hazard. If you do need to bring a buggy, BFLF stewards or venue staff will show you where you can leave it during the event, but please note this may require it to be carried upstairs. SAFETY: Adults remain responsible for their children at all times. This is a family event. Adult only groups are not allowed. The event will be busy. The dancefloor is for adults and children to dance together. Please be aware that events are standing/dancing with limited seating available. Each event is stewarded and risk assessed in advance. The entrance/exit will be manned at all times by BFLF staff. No children will be allowed to leave the event without their adult. We cannot guarantee that sweets/snacks sold on the premises are allergen-free. Battery operated accessories eg light up batons are not permitted at events due to risks associated with circular batteries. Please do not bring these along. Large Groups If attending as a large party please ensure one adult to two children minimum. We will refuse entry to groups where there is inadequate supervision. Pre-walking infants are free (but ticketed). Sound Level The music level is set and monitored throughout to abide by WHO guidelines. Most parents do not use ear defenders on their children but if yours are particularly sensitive to noise or if you want them to nap then you might want to consider it.
