This 3-day program is from Mon.-Weds. July 7-9, 2025 from 8am-2pm. $125/per student (service fees may apply and are non-refundable). For students currently in 3rd-5th grade for this SY 2024-25. *The 3rd or last day will be an ‘Ohana Day ( time TBA ). A Hawaiʻi ʻāina-based and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) initiative at Waipao in Heʻeia. This program connects K-8th grade students to ʻāina through moʻolelo and cultural practices, deepening their relationship with the land. Through storytelling, hands-on learning, and the propagation of native Hawaiian plants, participants engage in traditions that strengthen their connection to ancestral ʻāina and perpetuate ʻike kūpuna. Lauhala Honu Workshop | No'eau Designers

The Lauhala Honu series is being created to allow participants to work on and complete larger projects while being instructed by cultural practitioners in their area of expertise. Participants will be creating a honu (turtle) that will be 10" long and 6" wide. Each class will be assembling different parts of the honu, then putting it all together during last class. Check in at the register at least 15 minutes prior to class start time. Classes will be the first 3 Thursdays in July: Thursday, July 10, from 5pm-9pm Thursday, July 24, from 5pm-9pm Thursday, July 31, from 5pm-9pm The Lauhala are carefully harvested, cleaned and assembled prior to class. All materials are included in ticket price. Participants must sign up by June 8th, 5pm to participate in all 3 days. In order for you to complete your project signups after June 8th will not be taken. This program blends hands-on media training with mentorship and fun, culminating in a student showcase.
