Join us as we look for signs of summer in our wonderful woodland. Explore for signs of summer, make a nest for the birds, swing in the hammock, dig in the mud kitchen, hunt for bugs, or create a craft - there's something for the whole family to enjoy in the woods.  (Please note we are unable to hold fires at our Belfairs events due to council restrictions).   Please come dressed for the weather.  We recommend long sleeves and covered legs even in hot weather to protect against bites and stings.  No sandals or open-toed shoes please.  Toilets, drinks, snacks and lunch avaialabe in the Centre.  Please note we are unable to have fires at Belfair's Woods due to restrictions posed upon us by Southend Borough Council. Shake 'n' Bake Down The Hatch Our first comedy night at The Hatch was a cracker, with a full sell out. So we're super chuffed to welcome back Ricky Bobby and his Shake 'n' Bake comedy night. Adult humour - but of the finest quality. As per usual, we'll be including a pizza in the price of the ticket - so you'll get laughs, great drinks available to buy at the bar, and a cracking home baked pizza to round out your night. Meet outside the visitor centre, follow the path taking in the sights and sounds of the woodland, collecting treasures as we go. Arrive at Nature Tots base camp and spend time exploring, learning, creating and discovering. Wildlife-themed activities from bug hunting and leaf spotting to natural painting and stick creatures.  There might even be time for a snack and a story under the trees!  The events run in blocks and take place weekly during term time. Every Thursday from 1 May - 22 May (4 weeks). Dates: 1, 8, 15, 22 May Suitable for ages 18 months to 5 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Our Wilder Holiday Club includes themed, inspiring activities led by our team of experts. There will be plenty of opportunities for nature discovery, learning new skills, and following your interests with lots of time for free play! You can take part in everything from fire lighting to den building, natural crafts to tool use, and pond dipping to animal tracking, our holiday club has it all. Important Information Wilder Holiday Club is for children aged 5 to 11 and will run at sites across the county between Tuesday 27th May and Friday 30th May. Activities will vary by site. Our Wilder Holiday Club runs from 9am to 3pm. All our activities take place outdoors and children will need to come dressed for the weather. We recommend layers that can get mucky including long sleeves and trousers to protect against scratches and stings, waterproofs and boots, trainers or wellies. Sandals and open-toed shoes are not permitted. In hot and sunny weather we also recommend sun hats and sun cream. Please note that toilets may be a 5-10 minute walk depending on each site.  Your child will require a snack, water, and a packed lunch. We are nut-free so please do not include any items containing nuts. All rubbish will need to be returned home with your child. Some sites may have a campfire and toasting suggestions will be sent on booking. We need a completed consent form for each child attending Wilder Holiday Club.
