Welcome to the Copy of The Great Bank Heist event! Date: Sat Sept. 20, 2025 Time: 2:00pm - 7:00pm Location: Chepstow Join us for an exciting in-person event where you can experience the thrill of a bank heist without breaking any laws! It's 1934 when the Great Bank Heist took place in the small Village of Cargill that left local residents stunned, and shocked! What happened during this incredible heist! Did they ever catch the thieves? Where were they from? Why Cargill? What happened to the money? So many questions. This will be a heist you won't soon forget! The local cop was across the street getting his hair cut at the local barber shop and bank patrons were horrified, shocked, and frozen with fear! Did the robbers get the vault opened? Did they escape with the cash? And most importantly - did they get caught by the famous cop of the day Otto McClevis? Find out during this exciting afternoon as we take you through the exciting details of 1934! This tour includes bus transportation (for the tour), local actors, tour guides, visits to historical buildings, beer tasting at the well-known Neustadt Brewery (as well as a full tour of the catacombs), and a full-course Bruce County church supper to finish the day off! Benny Goodman and Charlie Christian meets Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli and the Hot Club of France, plus influences of Artie Shaw and Astor Piazzolla. Expect stylish jazz and vintage Parisian swing. Tickets Tickets £16 in advance, £18 on the door. A portion of all ticket sales will go towards the church's fundraising appeal. About the band: Swing from Paris are Tomasz Williams (double bass), Andy Bowen (electric guitar), Fenner Curtis (violin), Sam Hughes (acoustic guitar). They enjoy creating and playing their own arrangements of music they love, mostly inspired by the swing era of the 1930s and 1940s: including music by Gershwin, Piazzolla, Benny Goodman, Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli and the Hot Club of France. They’ve been seen on the BBC’s Hairy Bikers, and have appeared at major jazz festivals including Cheltenham, Brecon and the Django Reinhardt Festival at Samois sur Seine. The band started out of a chance meeting of Andy Bowen and Fenner Curtis, when they both sat in at a Birmingham University jazz club jam session. Already fans of the music of the guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stéphane Grappelli, they started a group and began playing regularly across their home county of Gloucestershire. Following formative years as a dedicated Django Reinhardt ensemble, they widened their repertoire to include many other greats of the era and beyond – and welcomed members Sam Hughes on guitar and Tomasz Williams on double bass in the late 2010s.
