Second Annual Sunset Soiree for Brain Cancer | East Hampton
Jun 7, 2025 (UTC-4)
Hampton East
Join us at our Second Annual Sunset Soirée for Brain Cancer in East Hampton, NY
Brain cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in children and the 10th cause of death in adults.
Come join us for a beautiful evening at a Private Estate to support brain cancer research. Let's gather together to enjoy the sunset, good company, and raise awareness for an important cause. Your presence will make a difference in the fight against brain cancer. Don't miss out on this special event!
The event will have entertainment, professional photography, passed hors d'oeuvres, caviar, oysters, desserts, and cocktails. The event will also showcase a range of engaging activations all centered around the cause and mission. These fun, immersive experiences will allow attendees to engage with the organization's work on a more personal level, fostering a deeper connection to the cause and inspiring continued support. Furthermore, a captivating auction will feature exclusive and unforgettable experiences, providing guests with the chance to bid on extraordinary items while making a substantial impact on the fight against glioblastoma.
The dress code for the evening can be best described as "Chic Summer Cocktail Attire." Our aim is to create an atmosphere of elegance while embracing the vibrant spirit of summer in the Hamptons. But, remember, there will be grass, so be careful with the stilettos!
Our event promises to be an evening of glamour, gratitude, and solidarity as we come together to make a difference and support the ongoing battle against brain cancer.
To gain entry to the event, guests must present a valid identification card verifying they are over 21 years of age and matching the name listed on the guest list.

The public is invited to the 48th Annual Meeting of the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island, and North Fork. Guest speaker is Emily Mastaler, the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, who will speak at the beginning of the meeting, about the hospital and also its new Emergency Services Building in East Hampton. She will be introduced by Valerie King, PhD., of East Hampton, chair of the League’s Health Committee.
The talk will be followed by the business portion of the Annual Meeting, conducted by the League’s Presidential team of Estelle Gellman, Arlene Hinkemeyer, Terry Wildrick and Susan Wilson, which includes adoption of the League budget for 2025-26, the election of officers and directors, and adoption of local program.
Also on the agenda are refreshments and the presentation of two annual awards—the LWV Betty Desch Student Leadership Award of a $2,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from a local high school, and the Carrie Chapman Catt Award to a League member for distinguished service. Catt was the president of the National American Woman Suffrage Association, who had worked tirelessly nationwide to win women the vote.
