Family Events
Fraser and Vancouver Coastal Infant Development and Supported Child Development Programs are excited to offer a Provincial Conference for those who work with children with support needs. An opportunity to network with other professionals in the field while learning about how we can best nurture the relationship with the families we work with. C onnected in Purpose: Advancing Early Intervention Practices for Families and Children. Choose one, two or all three days. Day 1: Dr. Vanessa Lapointe and Screening of the documentary, SEEN. Join former practicing psychologist, now educator, author, and speaker, Dr. Vanessa Lapointe as she opens our 3-day provincial conference with a morning keynote that inspires us to see, hear, and truly connect with families of young children (birth–5 years). Her talk will guide participants in viewing the afternoon screening of the documentary SEEN through a lens of empathy and insight, enriching our support of the families we serve. The day features interactive networking on key early intervention topics including developmental assessment, family engagement, inclusion, cultural safety, and school transitions. Participants will share professional successes, explore challenges, and exchange ideas with peers from across the province. We will close the first day with a screening of SEEN The Film and a live Q&A with Dr. Lapointe, offering a chance to reflect, ask questions, and deepen understanding of the film’s powerful themes. Day 2 and 3: Dr. Louis Rossetti – Advancing Clinical Practice in Early Childhood Intervention “Learning to listen leads to listening to learn.” – Designed for clinicians and therapists working with young children (birth to 5 years) who have, or are at risk for, developmental delays, this inservice blends clinical expertise with compassionate listening. Inspired by a parent’s journal, Dr. Rossetti reminds us that effective care begins by hearing families’ voices. Session Highlights include: Defining the Population, Effective Assessment, Intervention Practices, and Caregiver Involvement. What people are saying... Dr. Vanessa Lapointe, Parent Educator | Keeping it Real to Help Big People Understand Their Little People - Dr Vanessa Lapointe Dr Vanessa Lapointe is one of those rare gems as a speaker. She is warm, captivating, intelligent and authentically real and audiences engage deeply with her. As an international speaker she is so respected and valued and people leave her presentations with full hearts and minds. Vanessa is simply outstanding and one of the best speakers I have ever heard over my long career. - Maggie Dent Author, Parenting & Resilience Educator Vanessa is one of the most engaging and entertaining parenting speakers I have seen to date. She is able to deliver quality research-based parenting content in a way anyone can understand. She is relatable, humorous and a pleasure to work with, I would highly recommend her. - Sam Jockel, Founder ParentTV.com SEEN The Film · A Parent TV Documentary SEEN is a groundbreaking feature-length documentary that not only explores the transformative power of personal healing for parents but also delves into the scientifically supported effects of such healing on parenting and its impact on child brain development. By focusing on the unexplored aspect of parents confronting their own childhood coping mechanisms, "SEEN" is poised to fill a significant gap in current narratives. Through the unfiltered and authentic narratives of real parents, we reveal the remarkable potential of addressing trauma and attachment styles. Louis Rossetti, Ph.D. - Behavioral Health Clinic | Counseling & Therapy Services Those who have heard Dr. Rossetti speak before share the following: “What I liked about it is that, the one conference attendedearly in my career made a huge impact on me and then another one taken later in my career, solidified my perspectives and also provided some new "nuggets". Dr. Rossetti meets the needs of experienced and novice practitioners.” “I have had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Rossetti twice (so far) and I have to say that in my 29 years as an Infant Development Consultant/Supervisor, both were the most impactful workshops in my career” Information Source: Inclusion Langley Society - Child Development Services | eventbrite

Concerts Classical
The cornerstone classical masterpiece on the program, a ‘pocket’ version of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony by Carl Burchard for one piano 4 hands, violin and cello leaves nothing out in terms of fullness and exuberance. Acclaimed musicians Jasper Wood (violin), Joseph Elworthy (cello) and the Bergmann Piano Duo will also perform the Hebrides Overture by Mendelssohn, a selection of Brahms Hungarian Dances, and additional works that celebrate the splendid and rich combination of strings and piano. “As an added gift, violinist Jasper Wood played … with a gorgeous sound and brilliant control of his instrument. Wood sounded like an entire violin section unto himself.” – Halifax Chronicle Herald “A cogent vision of each suite impressively expressive yet contained, drawn with surgical precision making [Elworthy's] interpretations an impressive achievement”. - Strad Magazine "[The Bergmann Duo] demonstrated an extraordinary ability to seemlessly blend their playing, much like the Everly Brothers could harmonize two voices, to sound like one rich instrument." - Red Deer Advocate Learn more about this concert Subscribe to the Season and Save!
