Arts Literary Arts
The poem begins at the word, and the word is rooted in the syllable. The rhythm of each line of poetry, depends on the breath that each syllable exhausts by its phrasing. Using the physical breath as a unit for the utterance, sustenance and exhaustion of the line, can syncopate the rhythm of each poem, elevating its performance. The breath is therefore a true limit for live expression that has to be considered while composing any length of syllables into a line of poetry, since a line on the page can infinitely drag a breath, that in live performance, will eventually exhaust itself. By using the active components of our breath in composition, our page can become aligned with the natural limits of our body, and this synthesis is the alchemy that makes gold of any composed poem. Join Khashayar Mohammadi for an exploratory workshop on utilizing breath and pauses to write poetry. Khashayar “Kess” Mohammadi (they/them) is a queer, Iranian-born, Toronto-based poet, writer and translator. They are the winner of the 2021 Vallum Poetry Award and the author of nine chapbooks of poetry. The Book of Interruptions is their fifth poetry book, now out with Wolsak and Wynn press. It is possible to talk to departed loved ones. Discover how this can be. Dreams are a treasure, a gift from God and dreams with ones who have passed can help you gain a new perspective as Soul. “ Death is a doorway, a transition into the inner worlds. Births and deaths mark the journey of Soul. The translation, or movement, from one stage of experience to another is but a further step on Soul’s journey home to God .” —Harold Klemp , ECK Wisdom on Life After Death , p . 8 If you, or someone you know, had a dream experience with a departed loved one, then the continuity of life becomes apparent. You can visit them via the dream state or Soul Travel, if you have a strong desire to do so. We were created out of God’s love, and, we live forever because Soul can never die. Recognize the spiritual nature of your dreams. Learn techniques for conscious dreaming, the experiences you have will lead to greater awareness of your life and its divine meaning. You are welcome and invited to come and share your insights, experiences, any questions on this topic, and hear others' experiences. You will also have the opportunity to try a spiritual exercise that can open your heart to the Light and Sound of God. Hope you can join us! Cultural Experiences
When: Sunday, September 28th from 4:00pm - 6:00pm Where: MOVATI Mississauga, VIBE Studio About This Workshop: Immerse yourself in guided affirmations and meditation while your body restores and rests with an Anti Gravity Restorative practice, Sound Healing and and Reiki Healing. 10 mins Intro 45 mins AGR and optional Reiki 45 mins Sound Bath 20 mins Restorative Closing & Savasana During the AntiGravity session you will treat your body and mind to restoration and gentle healing. This powerful technique will focus your mind through powerful visualizations as will float your body through a series of gentle gyro-kinetic motions, deeply opening your entire spine, hips, and connective tissues of your body. AntiGravity Restorative practice offers accessibility to students with physical limitations but is loved by all as a portal into deeper spinal flexibility, and mind/body connection. The AntiGravity Restorative practice will be enhanced with the healing energy of Reiki. Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice that uses universal life force energy to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The word “Reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,” meaning life energy. Practitioners channel this energy through their hands, by gently placing their hands on or above the recipient's body. Energy can become stagnant in the body where there has been physical injury or even emotional pain. Reiki can improve the flow of energy and remove blocks within the body. This may aid in relaxation, assist in the body’s natural healing processes, and develop emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. In the second part of the event, you will be immersed in a Soundbath. During the Soundbath you are being "bathed" in sound waves, vibrations and frequencies that flood all around you. These sound waves are produced by various instruments including quartz crystal singing bowls, rain sticks, drums, and chimes. The universe and everything in it communicates with one another through vibrations. All objects and living things, including the cells in our body possess and oscillate with certain frequencies. The vibrations and frequencies in a Sound Bath will promote healing and overall well-being. This therapy is based on the law of resonance, whereby the sound waves produced by singing bowls and other instruments interact with the body's own vibrational frequency, leading to several positive effects on both the mind and the body. As the vibrational sounds fill the room and surround your body, your nervous system will switch into a restorative alpha and/or theta state by down-regulating the nervous system. This will help to calm the mind and relax the body, allowing you to let go of tension and enter a state of deep relaxation.
