ABOUT THE BOOK
It's not summer without a new Riley Sager book, and his highly anticipated new thriller is unlike anything he’s written before. Inspired by Agatha Christie’s classic,
Murder on the Orient Express
,
WITH A VENGEANCE (out June 10, 2025; Dutton)
is set entirely on a luxury overnight train from Philadelphia to Chicago with just a handful of passengers…and a murderer on board. There’s more than one person on the train seeking vengeance - and it’s a race against the clock to see who can strike the hardest before the end of the night.
Since his breakout hit
Final Girls
, Sager has honed his knack for page-turning suspense with each book. Last year’s
Middle of the Night
received more rave reviews and attention than ever before from outlets like
The New York Times,
NPR
, Good Morning America, People, AARP
and beyond. Sager’s book tour was met with packed, standing room only crowds, rocketing
Middle of the Night
onto the NYT bestseller list – his seventh bestseller in as many years. Even with last year’s huge Sager Summer,
WITH A VENGEANCE
is already on track to be his biggest release to date. All aboard!
Revenge is fleeting. Vengeance lasts a lifetime.
It’s 1954 and Anna Matheson has been waiting twelve years to take vengeance against the six people who destroyed her family. No one expected her to strike at all, much less on the luxury train her father loved and lost, but she’s managed to do just that. Under false pretenses, Anna lures the six culprits aboard. There’s the housekeeper, the secretary, the business partner, the rival, the military contractor, and the jealous employee. Each responded to a highly specific invitation, climbing aboard the train that brought them all together in the first place, but what they didn’t expect is that they would be the
only
people on this particular journey. There are no other passengers, no employees – just them, Anna, her accomplice, and their mutual fury.
Anna isn’t a killer, and her plot doesn’t involve bloodshed. But despite her meticulous preparations, Anna’s plan to trap and confront each person before delivering them directly into the hands of the authorities is immediately derailed when one of her six guests is murdered. As the train barrels through the night, it becomes clear that someone else on board is enacting their own form of revenge—and that they won’t stop until everyone is dead.
As the clock ticks down and the bodies pile up, Anna is forced to hunt the killer, second guess her allies, and protect the people she hates the most, even if that means putting her own life at risk.
Sager pivots to different characters’ perspectives throughout the novel, keeping the storyline as unpredictable as the revenge plot.
WITH A VENGEANCE
is summer reading at its best – fun, thrilling, and smart, with twists that will have you wishing your vacation flight was just a
little
bit longer. For fans of Ruth Ware and Lucy Foley, this is a can’t miss.

Throwing / Wood Firing Course - 2025 | Mid Wales Arts Centre
Jun 20, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Newtown
3 day Wood Firing Experience in the heart of Mid Wales.
Our Girel 3e kiln was built in 2024, an ergonomic, economic and environmentally friendly kiln designed by Jean Girel in 2022. It uses less wood than comparable kilns and fires in much less time giving the opportunity for the experience of wood firing without a large time commitment. The kiln is designed to be energy efficient, both in terms of the wood used and the effort of stoking. Those coming on the course will be able to participate in the full firing experience.
Firing weekend courses will be Friday to Sunday.
June 20,21,22
Sept 26,27,28
Programme
-
Friday
. Glazing and packing the kin 10.00 – 19.00
Saturday
. Kiln firing from 6.00 a.m, finishing around 19.00
Sunday
. Morning free to explore the area, afternoon will be unpacking the kiln
£300 per person.
Maximum 8 people
Café on site.
You can bring
12 or so small to medium-sized bisque or raw stoneware pots or come on our intensive throwing course the previous weekend. It is very important that you use appropriate clay to minimise adverse effects on other pots and kiln shelves.
We provide a range of glazes that have been used successfully in this kiln. In wood firing, much of the pleasure is gained by the action of the flame on the unglazed surface of the clay body, so glazing is not always preferable.
We can’t guarantee to fire all of your pots, but we will fire as many as possible.
Optional 2 day throwing workshops
, max 5 students Saturday and Sunday before the firing
June 14,15
September 20,21
Work to be made for firing the following weekend may be bisque fired or kept raw. We provide the opportunity to use the clay bodies that have proved effective in this kiln.
£225 per person, to include clay and bisque firing if required.
Café on site.
Book both courses together for £500. Concessions available.
Full board / half board available at Mid Wales Arts.
Camper vans can be accommodated on site.
Contact office@midwalesarts.org.uk

The courses are run by-
Jean Sampson MA.

near Newtown, Powys and has its own mainline railway station which runs directly to Shrewsbury with good connections throughout the UK. The station is a short walk, and we can arrange transport if needed.

Living in the Biotech Century: The First 25 Years | Trinity Evangelical Divinity School
Jun 26, 2025 (UTC-5)ENDED
Bannockburn
We are 25 years into the Biotech Century. Have the predictions, opportunities, and threats that many in the late 1990s wrote about come to pass? From eliminating disease to the development of new technologies and moving toward the Singularity, how have the predictions made in the 1990s fared?
Which opportunities and threats have been realized? What unforeseen issues have arisen? How does the knowledge we have now inform how we view the predictions that were made then? And, perhaps most importantly, how can human beings flourish over the rest of the Biotech Century?
The Center for Bioethics & Human Dignity invites you to join us for our 32nd annual conference,
Living in the Biotech Century: The First 25 Years
, on the campus of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Bannockburn, Illinois.
We will assess the fruits of the Biotech Century and delve into the pressing issues before us from a Judeo-Christian, Hippocratic point of view.
Confirmed Speakers Include:
Nigel M. de S. Cameron, President Emeritus, Center for Policy on Emerging Technologies
Paul Dassow, President, American College of Family Medicine
Ewan Goligher, Assistant Professor, University of Toronto

The conference will host plenary sessions addressing:
Virtue Ethics
Predictions vs. Reality Regarding the Biotech Century
The Growth of Assisted Suicide and the Continuing Push toward Euthanasia
An Update on Christian Bioethics in Chinese-Speaking Areas of the World
Coming Soon in Biotech
And More
In addition, workshops and paper sessions will explore a wide spectrum of issues from traditional and emerging bioethical topics.

Glorious Cotswold Grasslands is a project run by the Cotswold National Landscape tasked with restoring wildflower grasslands throughout the Cotswolds AONB. Since 2019 we have restored nearly 500 hectares!
Join our team at one of our fantastic donor seed meadows to learn all about the wildflowers and grasses that can be found there. The morning session will focus on learning how to identify a wide variety of wildflowers typical of calcareous grasslands. We will then spend the afternoon learning how to identify a few calcareous indicator grasses and consolidating what we've learnt by carrying out some botanical surveys of the site.
The price of the course includes tea/coffee & biscuits and printed handouts. Participants will need to bring their own water and lunch.
Joining instructions will be emailed to all participants the week prior to the event.
All proceeds raised by this training day will be used to fund future wildflower grassland restoration work.
