All proceeds from this event support the chapter committee's community initiatives including A Back to School Drive, A Community Shelter Drive, and an Adopt-A-Family Winter Holiday Drive.
This year’s Make A Difference Brunch and Fireside Chat brings together a powerful gathering of inspiring men and women who are making a difference and driving change. Through bold advocacy, unwavering commitment, and transformative action, they are empowering communities of color and the underserved, breaking barriers, and creating a future where equity, economic opportunity, and justice thrive. This training will emerse city, county, state, and other governmental workers who manage right of way and turf areas on how to incorporate or better manage ornamental perennial peanut in their municipal/public spaces. The event will offer CEU hours for Florida Pesticide license operators for1 credit hour of Core and 2 credit hours for either Right of Way, Commercial Lawn and Ornamental, Limited Lawn and Ornamental, or Ornamental & Turf categories.

DR. LINDSAY M. CHERVINSKY
is a presidential historian and Executive Director of the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon. Previously, she was a non-resident Senior Fellow at the Center for Presidential History at Southern Methodist University, a historian at the White House Historical Association, and a fellow at the Kluge Center at the Library of Congress. Lindsay's latest book, MAKING THE PRESIDENCY: John Adams and the Precedents that Forged the Republic, published on September 5th, 2024 by Oxford University Press. She is also the author of the award-winning book The Cabinet: George Washington and the Creation of an American Institution and co-editor of Mourning the Presidents: Loss and Legacy in American Culture. Dr. Chervinsky has been published in the Washington Post, TIME, USA Today, CNN.com, The Wall Street Journal, Washington Monthly, The Daily Beast, and many others; she is a regular resource for outlets like CBS News, Face the Nation, CNN, The BBC, New York Times, Washington Post, Associated Press, CBC News and Wired's "Tech Support."

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Fruit and vegetable growers and others interested in learning about produce safety, the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule, Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs), and co-management of natural resources and food safety are encouraged to attend.
The PSA Grower Training Course is one way to satisfy the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirement.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The trainers will spend approximately seven hours of instruction time covering content contained in these seven modules:
Introduction to Produce Safety
Worker Health, Hygiene, and Training
Soil Amendments
Wildlife, Domesticated Animals, and Land Use
Agricultural Water (Part I: Production Water; Part II: Postharvest Water)
Postharvest Handling and Sanitation
How to Develop a Farm Food Safety Plan
In addition to learning about produce safety best practices, key parts of the FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirements are outlined within each module. There will be time for questions and discussion, so participants should come prepared to share their experiences and produce safety questions.
BENEFITS OF ATTENDING
The course will provide a foundation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) and co-management information, FSMA Produce Safety Rule requirements, and details on how to develop a farm food safety plan.
After attending the entire course, participants will be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) that verifies they have completed the training course.
REGISTRATION
The fee for the training is $40 for everyone. Cost includes training materials, lunch, refreshments, and a certificate of attendance issued by AFDO. Participation for the entire training is required for the certificate.
Seats are limited.
