Teresa Ruiz, and numerous other dignitaries today to unveil a new monument honoring Harriet Tubman and pay homage to the city’s role in the Underground Railroad along with the Black liberation movement’s rich history in the area. The ceremony also observed Harriet Tubman Day, which is tomorrow. The monument stands in Harriet Tubman Square, at the intersection of Washington and Broad Streets, in downtown Newark.

About this course
Creative writing tutor and poet, Fiona Theokritoff welcomes all writers, beginners and more experienced, to this workshop. Using images and other prompts to get you started, have a go at writing about the wonders of the natural world, and how we can work for a sustainable future. This session showcases a course Fiona is teaching on the Inspire program Autumn 2025.

How It Works
Upon purchase, you will receive a code via email. Use this code to register for individual films and events at no additional cost. You must sign up separately for each event you wish to attend to secure your spot.
Pass Pick Up
Collect your Festival Pass lanyard at The Newark Museum of Art by presenting your digital ticket and ID during any of the 2025 NBFF events, including special free screenings on June 18 and June 25.
Seating
All NBFF screenings offer open seating on a first-come, first-served basis. Accessible seating for guests using wheelchairs or with mobility needs is available on the right and left sides of the auditorium in the back. When the auditorium seating fills, additional seating will be available in our overflow space.
Assistive Listening
