Hiya Phil here, I hope your keeping well.
You are invited to join us on one of the best scenic coastal hikes along the Jurassic coastline, and also challenging in places…
We will be starting at East Lulworth at the lost village of Tyneham, evacuated in WW2 (1943) and has stood deserted ever since.
This is an out back circular route with both directions offering plenty of wildlife and some of the best scenery to be scene along the Jurassic coastline, including a mixture of natural and historic sites as we make are way over Rings Hill and Bindon Hill, around Lulwoth Cove and through the Ministry Defence tank range.
In total we should be covering approx. 16km (ten miles) on well-made coastal and trail paths with some short, sharp, steep and sections in areas that level off to some stunning views, requiring care and appropriate footwear, especially in areas where the paths could become muddy and slippery.
Therefore, to attend this event, your walking/hiking abilities should be at moderate and above.
Wheelchair access is challenging due to uneven surfaces, narrow paths and steep sections throughout the trail.
It will take approx. 4 – 5 hours to complete at a comfortable pace with plenty of stops for water, food and to take in the views.
There are
toilets
at the start near Tyneham Village, at Lulworth Cove and finish point. Top Tip: Bring you own baby wipes.
Lulworth Cove (Peplers Point Monument) will be the main location we stop, regroup, refuel and hydrate and take in the views, although you are encouraged to do this throughout the entire hike where you feel necessary.
The return to Tyneham Village, feel free to explore the abandoned village.
