We want to support every sister-owned business, and if you wish to vend at any Camping Noire event, contact us for a vendor application. Until we approve your vendor application, we ask that you do not attend with the intent to vend. All patrons vending without approval will be asked to leave and not receive a refund. This class will cover my personal go to haircutting techniques for two separate haircuts; a classic volume shag and a French bob. We will set both you and your client up for success in creating these low maintenance, air dryable shapes. Navigating textures and specialty haircuts can be overwhelming and intimidating, let me help you break down that barrier and approach your haircuts like I do... with simplicity like a sculpture! We will dive into how I tackle product application for low maintenance clients. Diagnosing issues within their pre existing product routine and what is lacking in their hair currently. How I troubleshoot those issues to come up with the most simple and effective routine and how I educate them to style their hair successfully at home. I will always encourage speaking up throughout my class and have it feel more like an open and safe conversation. I am here to give you any and all of the information that I can with all of the little tips and tricks that have worked for me. No questions that you have for me about anything regarding hair will go unanswered!!! There will be a Q&A at the end for any missed questions during the class. In between haircuts there will be a 30-40 minute lunch break with lunch included! This will also be an opportunity to ask questions and chat with me! Please join us for this incredible addition to our roster of book events! HICK: The Trailblazing Journalist Who Captured Eleanor Roosevelt's Heart by SARAH MILLER. Wednesday, June 18th at 6:30pm Purchasing a $20.99 includes your RSVP and a copy of the book. Purchasing a $5 ticket is to reserve your seat and you will recieve a $5 coupon to use at the time of the event! Hope to see you there! About the Book: In this riveting YA non-fiction set against the backdrop of the Great Depression, trace Lorena Hickok--or Hick's-- rise from devastating childhood to renowned journalist, and watch as she forms the most significant friendship and romantic relationship of her life with first lady, Eleanor Roosevelt. Lorena Hickok came from nothing. She was on her own from the age of 14, cooking and scrubbing for one family after another as she struggled to finish school. But the girl who secretly longed for affection discovered she had a talent with words. That talent allowed Hick to carve out a place for herself in the male-dominated newsrooms of the Midwest where she earned bylines on everything from football to opera to politics. By age 35 she’d become one of the Associated Press’s top reporters. At the moment her career was taking off, Hick was assigned to cover Eleanor Roosevelt during FDR’s presidential campaign. By the close of 1932, Hick was head over heels in love with the wife of the president-elect. And her life would never be the same. Acclaimed author Sarah Miller read the 3500 letters that exist between Lorena Hickock and Eleanor Roosevelt to reconstruct their friendship and love, and bring Hick's story to a new generation. About the Author: SARAH MILLER is the author of Hanged!, called a tour de force in a Booklist starred review; Violet and Daisy, called meticulously detailed in a starred review from The Horn Book; The Miracle & Tragedy of the Dionne Quintuplets, which received four starred reviews; and The Borden Murders, a School Library Journal Best Book and an ALA-YALSA Quick Pick for Reluctant Readers. In addition to her work for young readers, she is the author of the USA Today bestselling Caroline: Little House, Revisited, which was named a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Selection, among other accolades. Hello Community Friends, My name is Kevin R. Burkitt, President and founder of PDL4HUNGER.INC – (EIN 934929309) My passion for outdoor recreation and community outreach found an interesting paring when I realized that I had the potential to use my American Canoe Association (ACA)- kayak instruction certifications to teach the community how to kayak safely, passing the gains- paper cups, plates, napkins, and coffee supplies through Johnson’s Restaurant Equipment (JRE) back into the food insecure community. The goal is to be on the water from 5:00 am through sunset- 8:30 pm, hosting cost-based events, trips, rentals, lessons, games, and skills challenges. I am asking you to help me promote the event and help me put people in the boats throughout the day. Please, consider coming to our event on June 21, 2025, and posting this event info on your social pages. Best, Kevin R. You will receive a $5 coupon upon arrival at the store that you can use for a purchase that night! Walk-ins to this event are welcome but space is limited. To preorder a copy of the book CLICK HERE ! Hope to see you in the shop! ABOUT THE BOOK: The fourth anniversary of Olivia’s daddy and John Lennon’s death is approaching. Like the shot heard ‘round the world, TV and radio stations keep the frenzy alive and recognize Lennon’s life, while Olivia’s mama remembers Daddy’s death. Instead of healing, Mama’s strange behavior keeps getting worse. After viewing an afternoon talk show, Olivia discovers her mother might have more than a case of eccentricity–she may be mentally ill. When those fears are confirmed, Olivia is faced with more decisions than any sixteen-year-old should have to make. With no adult family members to turn to, she is forced to trust the only people who’ve offered help: one strange man and a friend her mother makes at the mental institution. Facing the intricacies of her mother’s illness one minute and decisions about her relationship with her new boyfriend the next, Olivia finds that through faith and determination, she can conquer it all in this poignant story of love, intuition, compassion, and hope. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Wendy Lynn Decker lives in Long Branch, NJ, and holds an MA in Creative Writing from Wilkes University. Her book SWEET TEA crossed genres from YA to adult because of its message about a teen girl dealing with a single parent who struggles with a mental illness. She is also, the author of THE BEDAZZLING BOWL, an inspirational middle-grade novel, which was awarded the FaithWriters Seal of Approval. Wendy’s essays have been published in American Writers Review, Cup of Comfort, and Middlesex Literary Journal, where she has taught as an adjunct instructor. She is currently seeking a home for her latest novel, (the title is under construction) which takes place in 1958, in Asbury Park, NJ. Though she tackles serious matters in her writing, her sense of humor makes frequent appearances. When Wendy is not writing, you can find her singing jazz, blues, and soft rock in her kitchen or at local restaurants in New Jersey for food and tips. BOOK REVIEWS: "In this day and age, society still finds it difficult to face the challenges families encounter that are living with a mentally ill parent. Ms. Decker's novel brings these issues to light in a realistic manner that engages readers as well as helps them understand…"- Christine Harris, Co-President, Middlesex County, NJ NAMI "Decker brings to life the chaos, confusion and poignancy of loving and living with a mentally ill mother. I couldn't stop reading, even when my heart was aching and my brain was cringing." - Shari Sanford,Paperback Exchange Bookstore "Compelling and real. Everyone, teenagers and adults can relate to this story. I cried, laughed and learned!"- Shari Stein, Media Specialist, J. P. Stevens High School "Wendy Lynn Decker has a very unique and talented gift of writing. I really enjoyed the down home style that assimilates a Tom Sawyer genre and I wouldn't be surprised if this book became recommended reading for contemporary school systems." -Ray Costa, LPC, LCADC, NCC "Sweet Tea is a fine young adult story...So many titles on mental illness narrow the focus to coping and neglect the overall bigger picture of how home life with mental illness can interact with a wider world outside home's front door...Sweet Tea offers a bittersweet taste of what life's all about, and will immerse young adult and adult readers alike in a life well lived." -D.
