Why Come? Want to know more about Surrey's famous and not-so-famous writers, and its hidden LGBTQ+ histories? As we head into the summer, are you curious about the cultural history of suntanning and sun protection? Or about the role played by séances, secret societies, and spiritual invocations in shaping the modernist imagination? If yes, these and other topics will all be discussed in the University of Surrey’s upcoming Arts and Humanities Research Showcase at the Guildford Institute. Join us for an early evening programme of ‘taster’ talks and literary readings which highlight a variety of current and recent research projects undertaken by the University’s School of Arts, Humanities and Creative Industries (SAHCI). This is also an opportunity to find out more about the study options we offer in SAHCI, at undergraduate, MA and PhD level. And there will also be time to chat informally with our academic experts over a complimentary glass of bubbly, and to suggest possible future avenues of research we might pursue! Parking Unfortunately there is no designated parking at The Guildford Institute. There are however, several public car parks nearby offering a range of short and long-term parking options. Limited pay & display spaces are available in Ward Street offering 30 minute parking and unrestricted blue badge parking. The Institute is a 10 minute walk from Guildford and London Road railway stations and less than 5 minutes from the bus station. Buses 3, 8, 25, 34, 36, 37, 100, 300, 462/3, 478/9, and 715 all stop directly outside or opposite the Institute
