Inaugural City of Sacramento Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony | Sacramento City Hall
Jun 2, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Sacramento
Winter 1850, the City of Sacramento was incorporated by the California State Legislature during the height of the California Gold Rush.
Both free and enslaved early California Pioneers of Pan African Ancestry were apart of our Gold Rush Era Heritage during the transition from Mexican to American rule.
California became the 31st State upsetting the balance of 15 slave states and 15 Free states
Today, our City of Sacramento does not recognize Juneteenth as a official paid holiday in alignment with our newest Title 5 US Federal Holiday.
Everyone is invited to come share this historic occasion, a very special flag raising ceremony on the way to our 160th Anniversary Year of Juneteenth.
Together, we recognize the symbolic year of 1865, at the close of our U.S. Civil War that preserved the Union and ended Chattel Slavery throughout America.

This course will investigate the history of exterior stucco, to the most recent developments in stucco assemblies designed with innovative weather-resistive air barrier membranes in a ventilated rainscreen wall assembly. Participants will identify drainage and venting requirements and understand the details of stucco wall systems. The course will explore case studies from failure to remediation, including successful projects utilizing the new innovative all-in-one drainage matrix and weather-resistive air barrier technology.
"
Designing Roofing for Climate Change
"
presented by Robert Hemphill, RBEC, RRC, RWC, REWC and Kimberly Agustin, RRO of Salas O'Brien Engineers - 1 LU | Elective (AIA Course#: 25DRFCC)
Building codes currently are not keeping up with the demands of climate change. Severe rain and wind events have made roofing designers realize that current building codes do not adequately address climate change. Historically building codes have changed in a reaction to weather related events. Thi
s presentation will focus on designing roofing for climate change by understanding why details and specifications currently used, need to be changed. The presenters will suggest additional building code requirements that should be included in future building codes.
"
When Your Building was Wood: A Case Study on Advanced Water Damage"
presented by Nathan O. Taylor, CSI, CDT & Jason Tarman, AIA NCIDQ of DTR Consulting - 1 LU | Elective (AIA Course#: 25CSWD)
This presentation is an in-depth dive into a remedial design project at a four-floor multi-family residential building in the Bay Area that escalated quickly with discoveries that raised structural red flags and created an expansion to the original scope of work. Beyond the suspected water damage, additional nonconforming conditions and structural degradation were uncovered, revealing questionable building practices and a lack of quality control during the original construction. This is an ongoing project that includes “re-skinning” all the vertical walls, significant structural rehabilitation, and biological remediation. This presentation is presented as a Case Study that covers the timeline of the project, the layers of additional discoveries, the remedial design, and the construction process to date. Throughout the presentation, each issue and discovery will be pulled apart for discussion, as well as to inform attendees of how each of those issues was overcome.
"
Blended Cements: A Pivotal Step in Reducing Embodied Carbon in Concrete"
presented by Nathan Forrest, P.E., ENV SP of California Nevada Cement Association - 1LU | HSW (AIA Course#: 25BCRC)
Blended cements are gaining market traction with the introduction of Portland limestone cement (PLC) and others are on the horizon. Blended cements are composed of Portland cement clinker, gypsum, and one or more cementitious components — also known as supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs). Blended cements reduce the GHG intensity of the product by reducing the amount of clinker (the most GHG intensive component) by up to 40% while still achieving a particular performance standard. Unlike many other key decarbonization pathways, the increased use of blended cements has the potential to significantly decrease the industry’s GHG emissions intensity in the near future.
"
A Multi-Attribute Approach to Sustainability"
presented by Jim Whitfield FCSI, CCPR, LEED AP of MAPEI - 1 LU | HSW (AIA Course#: MAP073A)
During this course, the audience will gain an understanding of why customers want to construct buildings using sustainable building products and materials. Participants will learn the history of sustainability as it relates to the building industry. We will discuss green building programs available, their active versions, and how they incorporate green product certifications and other sustainable attributes. You will also learn more about green building products, their impacts on human health and the environment and learn how to find andselect sustainable products that meet various green building programs.

Sophisticated Simplicity
Our events offer a fresh alternative to speed dating and matchmaking. We don't find anything romantic about whistles, name-tags or over-the-top party trimmings typically found at singles events so we have done away with them. Creating an atmosphere that is at once casual and comfortable. It's what we call cheeky-chic!
Meet a partner to attend concerts, music festivals, bar crawls or fitness classes. Someone who shares your passions and interests - from sports to yoga - all in a setting just your speed.
-
Upon registration, you'll be sent an email inviting you to login to your mobile MyCheekyDate ‘Smart-Card’. As the event begins, login to your scorecard and let the flirting begin. You'll be able to choose whom you fancy meeting again, to what degree you like them and have until midnight to submit your final selections for matching. Once the clock strikes midnight - return to our platform to see your matches. It's where Cheeky meets convenience! You can also access your profile via mobile, tablet or PC. Our platform isn't an app so it requires absolutely no downloading and can be accessed directly from our website, anytime. Paper scorecards are just so 2010!
The night has arrived! Go to the venue at the published start time for the event. There is no official start time to the speed dating portion of the evening - we like to wait for all daters to arrive, to have a moment to settle in with a refreshment and mingle should they wish.
Our personable hosts will assist you with your MyCheekyDate 'Smart-Card’ Scorecard. Flirty and fun, your mobile scorecard is just the beginning. Chat up our Hosts for tips or simply to ask, which direction the bar is in! After being shown to your table, the ladies will remain seated for the duration of the event. The gents move from lovely lady to lovely lady every six to seven minutes. Your mobile scorecard gives you the ability to see all the participants attending your event, upload your picture, make your selections and be notified of your matches all from your phone.
Offering uncompromising value with unparalleled service. Lovely venues and our lovely Hosts to assist you with anything or anyone.
