Hubbards
Sloan is a Toronto-based rock band from Halifax, Nova Scotia who first performed in spring of 1991. Comprised of bassist and vocalist Chris Murphy, guitarists/vocalists Jay Ferguson and Patrick Pentland, and drummer/vocalist Andrew Scott, the quartet possessed a rare chemistry from the start. There are so many moments peppered throughout the 30-year history of Canadian indie rock heroes Sloan that set them well apart from the pack. From the band’s earliest home studio recordings that married their pop smarts with fizzy, fuzzed out guitars, right up to later efforts that contain multitudes in their track listings, ranging from Dylanesque streams of consciousness to short, sharp blasts of power pop - Somehow, it all remains quintessentially Sloan. The band are credited as being a main instigator for the Canadian East Coast alternative scene of the early 90s, garnering comparisons to the Seattle Grunge movement on the opposite coast. Over the course of their quarter-century career, Sloan have amassed an outstanding collection of over 250 songs and more than 30 singles with airplay at Canadian Rock Radio. Sloan have received nine Juno Award nominations and won for Best Alternative Album in 1997. The band was named one of Canada’s top five bands of all-time in a CBC critics poll. To attend, patrons must adhere to all government health and safety directions in place at the time of the show, as well as any additional venue protocols. Interstellar 10 - A concert of music from the film! | Halifax Minster
Jul 4, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Halifax
About the concert
It's just over 10 years since the release of the groundbreaking Christopher Nolan blockbuster "Interstellar." It won various accolades, including being nominated for Best Original Score at the Academy Awards. Now is your chance to hear this phenomenal soundtrack played by the original performer on the world-renowned Halifax Minster Organ.
Halifax Minster is hosting a unique concert, as part of its annual Summer Festival, showcasing music from the film. This will be performed by celebrated musician Roger Sayer, the primary organist working alongside Hans Zimmer to create the iconic soundtrack for Interstellar's release in 2014.
Originally recorded in Temple Church in London, Roger collaborated with Zimmer and Nolan to craft the moving score using the power and creativity of the organ. The performance will take place at the extraordinary Halifax Minster organ. This is a special opportunity to experience the incredible soundtrack and celebrate the wonder of space travel and its boundless capabilities.
"ROGER IS, WITHOUT EXAGGERATION, AN EXTRAORDINARY ARTIST, WHOSE HUMANITY SHINES IN THE IMPECCABLE ARTISTRY THAT FLOWS FROM HIS HANDS…" HANS ZIMMER
There will be opportunities to hear Roger reminisce about working with Hans Zimmer as well as the chance for audience members to ask questions about the making of the soundtrack.
An evening of music and visual imagery, the concert is timed to co-incide with dusk to enhance the impact of the music in this historic setting.
In the first half, music includes a performance of the Planet Suite by Gustav Holst, a video featuring Hans Zimmer and a short Q&A
The second half features music from the soundtrack, played on the organ with projected satellite imagery and cameras showing Roger's playing.

Halifax Zombie Apocalypse - Scavenger Hunt | Downtown
Jul 1, 2025 (UTC-3)ENDED
Halifax
Can you survive the Zombie Apocalypse?
Halifax Zombie Scavenger tests your ability to survive after a zombie apocalypse.
The game leads you through the city, where you will have 60 minutes to collect supplies to survive during this interactive scavenger game. With the whole world in chaos and zombies outnumbering the living 10 to 1, small colonies of the living are doing all they can to survive. Using your smartphone, your team will be tasked with scavenging the city for food, supplies, weapons, and shelter. The more things you find, the more points you get, the more likely you are to survive. Along the way, you will be asked to do a challenge or answer a trivia question in order to be rewarded with virtual weapons to ward off the zombies. The area is crawling with relentless zombies, and rival colonies are moving in. If you get too relaxed, rival colonies will take what you worked hard to find. The goal is to find all of the items in hopes that you will survive the zombie apocalypse.
Scavenger Rules:
In 1 hour your team of up to 10 people will use a smartphone to search the area for much-needed food, supplies, and shelter. The more things you find in the 1 hour, the more points you get and more likely you would be a survivor. The task will not be easy. Along the way, you will be asked to do some challenges or answer some trivia questions. The goal is to get at least 4000 points in 1 hour in order to survive the zombie apocalypse!
The Ticket price covers the participation of 1 team (up to 10 people). Add as many teams as you need.
