This includes important case law covering the legal definition of a woman and the expression of controversial views in the workplace (gender-critical social media posts) as well as where we are with the Employment Rights Bill. We will also have breakout sessions focusing on Immigration and Intellectual Property/Confidential Information, particularly their impact when employees leave. To conclude the day, Felicity Sparkes, Ashtons' Learning and Development Advisor , will lead a practical session on Reflective Practice . This session will cover what reflective practice is, why it matters in people-focused roles, what obstacles exist, and how to create space for thoughtful reflection. We will be looking at songs and poems, and text fragments and songs as storytelling and making these into new Broadside Ballads. You will be able to make your own texts into prints through collage, drawing experimenting and Riso print.. so bring along your ideas! If you have never tried Glass Fusing before, I will teach you the basics of how to work safely with glass. You will then be able to use your new skills to transform your ideas and designs into unique fused glass masterpieces! You will be supplied with all the tools and materials you will need, to make your creations. I will take your creations back to my workshop, fuse them in my kiln and deliver them back to you. An opportunity to relax and recharge while learning new skills. Each workshop has a maximum of 14 spaces so that I can offer individual help and support as you work. Due to the safety issues around handling glass, this workshop is NOT suitable for young children. Sensible teenagers are very welcome if they are accompanied and supervised by a parent/guardian. An introduction to the world of pinhole photography and basic darkroom paper developing. The workshop is led by Alison Lea: photographer, former lecturer and museum curator. @rocksnapper on Instagram. After a brief introduction to the history of the ‘camera obscura’ and the origins of photography, you’ll learn the basic principles of depth of field, exposure etc. You will then create your own pinhole camera using a lidded tin, (coffee tins work well, see below). Learn how to load the ‘camera’ with photographic paper in the darkroom, expose (take the picture) outside or in the studio, then return to the darkroom to develop the paper negative. Suitable for complete beginners to experienced photographers. Please bring a tin like the one pictured, but we do have a few spares! Other materials and chemistry supplied.
