Farm Tour & Potluck at Thank You Farm (Langley, BC) | 21231 36 Ave

Jun 21, 2025 (UTC-7)ENDED
Langley
Cultural Experiences
You’re invited to a Farm Tour and Potluck at Thank You Farm in Langley, BC! If you’re curious what land matching is all about – or just want to check out what your local farmers are up to – join us for the event. Come out to connect with other farmers and food lovers, share a delicious potluck meal and learn about free-range egg production. We'll enjoy a farm tour with leasing farmer Chungyun Kim, who is the owner and operator of Thank You Farm. Prior to farming full-time, Chungyun was a small business owner. He studied forestry in South Korea and after moving to Canada, kept chickens, ducks and goats as a hobby. In 2024, he decided to turn his interest in agriculture into a full-time career and reached out to the B.C. Land Matching Program (BCLMP). Chungyun was matched to 3.5 acres of land through the BCLMP, where he now runs Thank You Farm, producing free-range eggs for his local community. During the farm tour, we will hear from Chungyun about his first year operating the farm and his plans for the future. In addition to his livestock (which include goats and 200 chickens), he is currently collaborating with the landholder to add vegetables to his operation. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions about land sharing, livestock farming and farm startup. The tour will wrap up with a potluck meal, with plenty of time to socialize. Ve-Jane, the Metro Vancouver-Fraser Valley Land Matcher, will also be there to discuss how she can help you find a farmer for your land or farmland where you can build your dream farm business. Both farmers seeking land and farmland holders are encouraged to attend – as well as anyone who loves food, farming and getting out onto the land. We can't wait to see you there! DATE: June 21, 2025 • 3pm - 6pm LOCATION: Coast Salish Territory. 21231 36 Avenue, Langley, BC . DIRECTIONS/PARKING: The farm is located towards the east end of 36 Ave in Langley, off of 208 St. There are a couple parking spots on the property, or you can park along 36 Ave when you arrive. Parking space is limited, so carpooling is encouraged – if you are looking for or can offer a ride to or from the event, you can organize carpooling through the Facebook event (coming soon!). Please do not bring pets to the event. Kids are welcome! More information below. SCHEDULE (times are approximate): 3:00 - 3:30 pm: Arrival & Intro Circle 3:30 - 4:30 pm: Farm Tour 4:30 - 6:00 pm: Potluck Social BRING : You are invited to bring a food item to contribute to the potluck. If you can, please include a little card with ingredients, for folks with food sensitivities. Please bring fully prepared dishes only. There will be a small refrigerator for food items on-site, but space will be limited, so feel free to bring your own cooler if you require one for your food item. To enjoy the meal, please bring your own plate, cutlery and cup and plan on packing your items back home to clean. Bring along a chair or blanket to sit on, a water bottle, and any sunscreen and insect repellant you might need. Make sure to wear weather and farm-suitable clothing and footwear – the event will proceed rain or shine (though there will be tents available for the potluck in case of rain). For restroom facilities, there will be one porta potty set up on-site.
