Faith in the City @ 40 (North) | Victoria Hall
Jul 12, 2025 (UTC+1)
Gemeinde Pfaffenschlag bei Waidhofen an der Thaya
Faith in the City 40th Anniversary (North)
2025 marks the 40th Anniversary of the publication of the influential report of Archbishop Runcie’s Commission on Urban Priority Areas. While the Thatcher government rejected it as “naive Marxism, and largely ignored its recommendations to the nation, it was followed by more than a decade of extensive initiatives in urban mission in the Church of England and other denominations.
Much has changed over 40 years, but issues of urban poverty and injustice have not disappeared, and there are few signs that Churches and other Christian activity are flourishing in such places. Indeed there are signs that neither government nor church are making them a priority for action and investment, and that people living there are increasingly feeling left behind.
This conference, one of a series of events across the country, is a chance to reflect on the theology and practice of urban mission, then and now. There will be input from leading practitioners who were involved in the 1980s, and those who are leading mission and church activities today.
It will be of interest to anyone who lives and works in the inner city, or on social housing estates. We hope it will encourage and inform, and be a catalyst for a renewed movement to develop Faith in the City and hope in urban churches and communities.
KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Introduction to 2 colour Photo Screen printing on Paper | Carousel Print Studio, Exchange Place Studios
May 3, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Gemeinde Pfaffenschlag bei Waidhofen an der Thaya
About this course
Learn the foundational skills of photo stencil screen printing, to help expand or start your creative journey. On the short course, you will learn how to produce your own photo stencil screen print from start to finish. You will be taught the initial coating and exposure of screens, all the way to the exciting reveal of your first print!
This is aimed at beginners who would like to try out this process, It's also a great opportunity for those looking to refresh their partially remembered college skills. It is perfect for printmakers who would like to become a member of Carousel Print Studio and use the screen printing facilities during open access sessions.
You will be taken step by step through coating a screen, exposing an image with the exposure unit, developing it in the washout room and then registering and printing the image onto paper.
What will I make?
You will make a two colour screen print. The first colour being an experimental base colour, using the ‘Colour Fountain’ print technique. To encourage you to print in a more painterly style, that will give you some foundational understanding of colours and inks relate with one another on the screen. And how to pull ink through a screen. The second colour will be a photo image of your choice, ( A4, submitted to print@
carouselprintstudio@gmail.com
) that will be printed on top of the first layer, where you will learn the basics of ‘registration.’
