Breakout Sessions (Attendees will have the chance to attend two sessions during the event.) {sessions that qualify for continuing education credits or units are indicated with * or #} Hope-Informed Leadership * # Presenter: Suzana Dobric Veiss, Ph.D. Today individuals find themselves navigating through a type of wild water rapids as temptation to cave into pressures, Covid pandemic upheaval, personal dilemmas, political or environmental stresses, and internal organizational forces of change abound. Those who believe in their abilities to be successful are more likely to be motivated to sustain their efforts to accomplish a difficult objective (Bandura, 2000). In this hands-on workshop participants will be introduced to five growth exercises that help individuals and teams increase self-efficacy, collective-efficacy, confidence, and optimism. Participants will have an opportunity to reframe their focus towards building commitment, efficacy, and hope in the face of obstacles. Strengthening Individuas Through Resiliency * # Presenter: Stephanie Guzman, LCSW This workshop explores Resilience Theory and its critical role in the helping professions. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how resilience is developed, the factors that contribute to it, and practical strategies to foster resilience in individuals facing adversity. This session equips helping professionals with the tools to empower clients, promote healing, and build long-term well-being. Caring Without Breaking: Allostatic load, secondary trauma, and sustainable self-care Presenter: Perla Davis This workshop explores the foundations of trauma-informed care through a compassionate lens — not only for the people we serve, but for ourselves as helpers. Together, we’ll unpack the science of stress, including allostatic load and secondary trauma, and explore practical tools and community resources for metabolizing stress. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how trauma impacts the body and mind, and how sustainable self-care is both an essential and an act of self-compassion and resilience. Listen. Reflect. Connect: Tools for Strengthening Communication Presenter: Dev Lovell In this interactive workshop, participants will engage in learning practical communication tools to navigate interactions with empathy and confidence. The session will focus on building effective internal and external communication by identifying personal communication styles, engaging in positive self-talk, and developing strategies that foster respectful and responsive dialogue.
