Family learn n' Roller Skate | Ramgarhia Sikh Sports Centre
Jul 27, 2025 (UTC+1)
Leeds
Family friendly all ages and abilities session. Please note, the stated time includes kit on/ off time.
What happens at family friendly learn n' roll?
It is a roller disco, but at the Ramgarhia Sports Centre!
Expect old school disco vibes, with tips to improve your skating and optional games, complete with cold soft drinks.
Quad and inline skaters are welcome. We have a small amount of space for accompanying non-skating partners and parents/carers.
We allow parents/carers to walk with their child within the practise zone space, not around the full hall thank you.
Roller skating is hard at any age! We expect all skaters to encourage each other and give less experienced skaters a bit more room.
Is this a coached session?
We are able to offer mini workshops in the form of a few quick tips, but our team needs to look after all the skaters in the session. This includes checking you've put wrist guards on correctly - they are tricky - to getting our newer skaters rolling. After that, we will do our best to support other skate skills requested within the session, but for more structured learning, check our sessions at The Skate Sanctuary.
These are split by age and skill level so we can really tailor our coaching to your needs.
There is a part of the hall set out as a 'practise zone' for building confidence, while the rest of the hall is set out as a rink. We may play games during the session. All games are optional - if you do not wish to take part, simply keep skating in the practise zone.
Will skate hire be available?
Yes, you will be able to hire our roller skates. Please make sure you book a separate skate hire ticket and tell us the size you need. We will have protective pads available for you to borrow on a first come first served basis.
Will refreshments be available?
Yes. A selection of cold drinks will be available. Please note: Due to the nature of the venue we are unable to provide hot drinks - There is no cafe onsite. You're welcome to bring your own hot drink, this must be in a cup with a lid. If you wish to bring your own snack, please eat these outside the hall.
How do I find the venue?
The Ramgarhia Sikh Sports Centre is near Sheepscar Interchange on Chapeltown road. Drive in through the ornate gates and up the slope to the sports hall at the back of the site.
There is plenty of free parking outside the front of the sports centre. Bus stops are right outside the gate.
Please wait in the hallway outside the sports hall until invited in. It is helpful if you have your ticket ready to scan.
Ticket Terms and Conditions:
Please check if you are able to hire skates / require your own skates as we do not provide hire skates for every class.
Under 18s must be accompanied by a guardian or responsible adult
We strongly recommend all skaters, particularly children and beginners wear full protection. This is available for free.
All identities and genders are welcome.
We welcome inline skaters. Skateboards, scooters and heelys are not allowed.
You authorise The Skate Sanctuary to take photographs and video of the session to share on their website and social media. Please speak to instructors or marshalls at the session if you do not wish your image to be included.
We assume you are well and there are no reasons you should not be roller skating.
Published event times reflect venue availability time - you may be asked to remove your skates up to 15 minutes before the published end time in order for us to clear the venue on time.
We are happy to refund/reschedule tickets if you tell us by email more than 24 hours in advance of the class. Please email
skate@rollergirlgang.co.uk

Leeds Heritage Pub and History Walk | City Square (Leeds)
Jul 27, 2025 (UTC+1)
Leeds
Starting in the shadow of the Black Prince, in City Square, this three-hour tour is run by It's The Beer Talking, a new business established by beer writer Simon Jenkins and event organiser and former Tetley's PR officer Nicky Massen.
You’ll learn how our city is still shaped by its 13th century geography, how it was the scene of audacious industrial espionage, the key role it played in the birth of a global entertainment industry – and about an extraordinary human auction, where people were sold to the highest bidder, a little over a century ago.
We visit a selection of pubs along the way, to sample some of the best beers our city has to offer and learn something about how brewing and drinking have played their part in Leeds life for centuries.
Read some great reviews from
Leeds Confidential
and
Leeds List
- and watch this Leeds List
video!
Tickets, priced £20, are strictly limited, so please book online, but we will accept payment on the day, if places are still available. The cost does not include beer - participants are free to choose their drinks at each of our four pub stops. For more details visit www.itsthebeertalking.co.uk/its-the-beer-walking/

Perfect for:
- Anyone who would like to relax more
All equipment is provided.
*Please wear warm comfortable clothes.*
About Sarah:
Initially drawn to the physical element of yoga, I started practicing Vinyasa yoga. After a short while I started to recognise the non physical benefits that yoga brings. The positive energy, mental clarity and sense of calm that yoga gave me became so important that I went on to complete my 200hr Vinyasa teacher training. I’m passionate about making sure that yoga is accessible and inclusive for everyone. I’m especially keen on creating safe spaces for apprehensive yogi’s, bigger bodies and people who think they don’t fit the image of a Western Yogi. I like to teach classes to a bold soundtrack, with focus on relaxation, strength, flowing movement and body gratitude.

Studio Roller Dance Skills Focus & Flow 17+ | The Skate Sanctuary by RGG
Jul 2, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Leeds
This class will have a monthly focus to deep dive into a particular movement set, including as many variations as we know and can create! Suitable for most levels - you decide which level you're comfortable to work at.
Each class will build on skills from the previous week throughout the month, however, just come when you can!
This class is suitable for folks who have some roller dance experience - However, you are still welcome to attend, just understand that the pace of the class will pick up during the month. The first couple of sessions will be more fundamentals based, which will then be built on through the month.
If the class feels too intense for you, you are welcome to join in without skates. Roller dance is very challenging!
Why do we love roller dance so much?
It fosters a sense of belonging when folks are able to dance together. Roller dance is incredibly powerful and we have had the privilege of being in spaces where skaters don't speak the same language, but are able to join in with the same steps in dance.
It supports fantastic footwork and technique that will support all other forms of roller skating. Especially balance.
It doesn't require a lot of room, so you can practise in a smaller space - like The Skate Sanctuary!
It's great fun.
It's a fabulous warm up
You will become a more confident skater and learn to be more patient with yourself.
Skate Hire
Skate hire is available from the front desk for £3 per session - you can pay by cash or card
Drinking water is available and we have a selection of hot and cold refreshments for sale.

Introductory tour of The Leeds Library | The Leeds Library
Jul 3, 2025 (UTC+1)ENDED
Leeds
Have you ever walked past The Leeds Library and wanted to find out more about our beautiful building and its collection?
...Then book a free tour!
The Leeds Library is the oldest-surviving members’ subscription library in the UK. Founded in 1768, the Library moved to its current purpose-built premises on Commercial Street in 1808, and many original features remain in this much-loved home.
From the Georgian splendour of the Main Room, with its Victorian sunlight burners, to the labyrinthian basement deep under Commercial Street, there is an unexpected treasure around every corner. And you never know, you may even meet the Library’s ghost…
We hope you’ll join the library after your tour, but will be under no obligation.
A note about accessibility – For access, please press the buzzer on the main entrance of the library and inform staff of your booking. For step-free access, please use the accessible entrance located between Ann Summers and Cinnabon. The Leeds Library was made accessible in 2025 with the addition of an extension that saw the installation of a through-floor lift and accessible bathrooms.
There is a Pay What You Can ticket option at check-out – any donations you are able to make will be greatly appreciated.

On Friday 4 July we will focus on the short film 'Wildcat' 2013 by Khalil Jospeh and on Friday 11 the sculpture 'Bathers (Les Nageurs)' c.1972 by Barbara Chase-Riboud.
Our sessions begin in the exhibtion space and move up to Central Court, which is a stunning bright, airy space on the first floor, in the heart of the gallery.
We emphasise that young children are welcome to 'come as they are'! We celebrate the whole child: vocals, movements and ideas!
