Executed Renaissance Tribute Exhibition the exploration of rich yet tragic history of Ukraine’s Rozstriliane Vidrodzhennia (Executed Renaissance). the movement flourished in the 1920s–1930s but faced brutal suppression under Stalinist repressions. through film, art, and storytelling, the event seeks to foster cross-cultural understanding and appreciation of Ukraine’s cultural legacy the event features: 🎬 the screening of Slovo House (2017) by Taras Tomenko. chain-smoking artists, poets and playwrights were among the colourful array of intellectuals living in the Slovo House in 1920s Ukraine. despite being built with Stalin's approval, it quickly became a prison as the brutal Soviet regime spied on the inhabitants and destroyed their eccentric way of life. this fascinating film explores the extraordinary story of the building and its residents. ⛓️ a display featuring visual and literary works from key figures of the movement. the exhibition consists of a ‘memorial plaque’ of all those killed, persecuted, and emigrated; photographs of historical places and personalities; documents from the NKVD archives; drawings, caricatures, paintings, magazines, and almanacs published by representatives of the movement ABERDEEN, Bieldside, Old Ferry Road, Newton Dee Camphill Community 30/05, 5pm we will have an opening night with the film screening £10 general admission £8 students
