RIDE ISLAND UNIVERSITY presents: BPACs 101 Part 2 This meeting is a continuation of BPACS 101 Part 1, which took place on January 29, 2025. Thanks to all who attended, new participants are encouraged and welcome. BPACs (Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commissions) can be the most effective way for citizens to help municipalities make progress on more and better accommodation for people to walk, bike and use transit - resulting in healthier and safer transportation and recreation options, while improving environment, economy and sustainability for all. This meeting is for people who would like to see improvements in the infrastructure and amenities for people to bike, walk and use transit easily, comfortably, and safely - to get wherever we need and want to go. Whether or not you would be willing to serve on your town's BPAC - if you are interested in improvement - you are welcome and encouraged to be part of this discussion. For Part 2, we will hear updates from all three municipalities on their progress. In addition, we will continue the conversation about shared priorities for the Island and how the BPACs can work together. For those interested in joining a BPAC, this is an opportunity to connect with BPAC members to learn more about what is happening in your municipality. Newport has a few open spots. Portsmouth is currently working to establish a BPAC. Middletown has no current openings; they encourage anyone interested to attend meetings and to apply for future positions.
