Beginners silversmithing class Come along and make a sterling silver pendant necklace with a bezel set gemstone or sea glass. During the class, you will learn how to pierce, form, polish and solder metal. You can choose from our available genuine gemstones or sea glass collection on the day. If you'd like, bring along some of your own pieces and we can see if they're suitable. We will have our collection available which has either been selected for its shape or altered to suit the setting type. We finish up the class by setting your stone in your handmade setting and polishing it to a high shine. All materials, and refreshments are included! This workshop has limited spaces meaning each person will have 1:1 time with the tutor and particular attention can be taken when using the blowtorch- this is great for those of you who might find heat work a little scary! A bit about us: Carley trained in Applied Art at CCAD in Hartlepool - Now the Northern School of Art. She specialised in Ceramics, Silversmithing and Textiles with a main focus in Ceramic art. After graduating in 2013 she went on to study a PGCE (14+) at the University of Bolton while living and working in Manchester. She gained most of her teaching experience working in secondary education and also through teaching classes in the field of ceramics at Muddy Fingers Pottery in Jarrow. In 2018 she began building her brand The Little Silver Kiln where her main intention was to make, sell and teach jewellery. The Little Silver Kiln opened its new studio in 2021 at The BIS on Whitby Street. Hosted in our new unit at The BIS on Whitby Street, Hartlepool. Our studio is a 2-minute walk from the train station, if you are driving, there is parking right next to the studio which is free after 6 pm. Our bright and warm studio space is on the first floor and has access via stairs, but there is bathroom access on the same floor. How to find us! - Follow your sat nav to Whitby Street, Hartlepool, TS247AD - You can miss us! The big beautiful building is opposite the car wash half way down the street. - Parking is available on street or next to the building in Dover Street car park (access between the Hillcarter and the Fishmongers) - Parking is free after 6pm and on Sundays, please check the street signage for any changes. Please note we aren't open to the public, you will need a ticket to our event or an appointment to speak with us in person. If you're new to metalworking, don't worry – our class is perfect for beginners! He has since appeared on CBC’s hit show The Debaters, Sirius XM’s JFL Canada & Raw Dog channels, Robert Kelly’s You Know What Dude, and The Ron Jeremy Celebrity Roast where he received a standing ovation for his performance (on top of being the head writer). Viewed by many as Canada’s top roast comedian, Tyler was recently part of Seasons 2 & 3 of Roast Battle Canada (featuring Russell Peters) on CTV Comedy Channel & Crave TV. Other roasts he has written and performed on have had such notable names as Gilbert Gottfried, Jim Norton, Big Jay Oakerson, Tony Hinchcliffe, the NHL Alumni, and the Toronto Raptors. He has even written roast material for the disgraced mayor of Toronto, John Tory. When he is not busy touring as a standup he co-hosts the popular podcast Fight Stories with comedian John Moses interviewing guests ranging from UFC icon Ken Shamrock to comedy legend Artie Lange. Feature Act Angela Maiorano-Thurston Since birth, Angela Maiorano-Thurston knew she had a voice that needed to be heard. Her journey began when she pursued improv studies at the renowned The Second City in Toronto during the 1990s. Angela has since evolved into a seasoned stand-up performer, with a presence that has taken her on tours across North America. Her credits extend to numerous television commercials and both film and TV projects. These experiences have rendered Angela easily recognizable and have contributed substantially to her ongoing success. Angela Maiorano-Thurston is a comedian you don’t want to miss. She has performed at the Edmonton Comedy Festival and Danforth Comedy Festival. Feature Act Rob Ross Rob Ross is a sought-after Canadian headlining stand-up comic and accomplished award winning television writer based in Toronto. Performing credits include: A one hour Comedy Now special on The Comedy Network and CTV, CBC’s Halifax Comedy Festival, CBC’s Winnipeg Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs, CTV’s Open Mike and CBC’s 9 O’Clock Show.
