A Playful Way to Master Speaking in Public is a 3-hour workshop designed to help individuals gain confidence in public speaking through creative and enjoyable methods. Led by Cathy Towers, this session will utilize games, imagination, and innovative communication techniques to explore the fundamentals of public speaking. Through engaging activities, participants will develop skills that can be applied in various settings, such as giving presentations, being interviewed on radio or TV, speaking at meetings, connecting with the public, motivating volunteers, and networking. This workshop welcomes individuals of all abilities and ensures a supportive environment where participants can work within their comfort zone while also pushing their boundaries. Hosted by Arts & Culture East Devon (ACED) and funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, this free workshop is specifically aimed at artists and creatives based in East Devon. Attendees will have the opportunity to join ACED and gain access to its network of artists and creatives. Additionally, Cathy Towers offers the possibility of a radio interview on the Speaking Out show on Phonic FM, which can serve as a promotional opportunity for participants' work. The workshop will take place on February 13, 2024, at the Manor Pavilion Theatre in Sidmouth (Manor Road, EX10 8RP).

Sidmouth library are delighted to host authors Rachel McLean and Heide Goody (writing under the pseudonym of Millie Ravensworth), whom, together with Iain Grant, have written the fantastic Lyme Regis Women's Swimming Club murder mystery........ Meet Annie, Rosamund, Helen and Figgy. Four very different women united by a love of swimming in Lyme Regis's beautiful bay. After a morning swim, two members of the club discover a dead body in another member's car, which later vanishes. Did they imagine it? Or did their friend kill a man? And if there was a body ,where has it gone? Without a body, there can't have been a crime. Can't there? But the swimming club are certain they weren't imagining things, and that there's a murder to solve. The question is, will solving it put their friend in prison?
