Hamilton, join us for Ecstatic Equinox Dance to welcome Autumn! Join us for a night of community, connection, movement and self-expression at De La Sol Yoga Studios! Ecstatic Dance is an opportunity to let loose, connect with yourself, and move freely with the music. No judgment and no shoes. NOTE: LED Lighting Effects are used at this event. ABOUT ECSTATIC DANCE This form of self-expression, intuitive and unguided movement is supported by a live musical journey by DJ Sammy C. You are encouraged to move however you feel moved. Ecstatic dance is meant to bring you joy, happiness and vitality! There is no talking on the dance floor. The dance floor is a space for you to let the music move you.It is also a safe space to explore any and all movement, whether that means stretching, or shaking, gliding, stomping, spinning, or snapping - however the music wants to move through your body. No prior yoga or dance experience is required. There is no right/wrong way to move. The ecstatic dance floor is a space of non-judgement and non-attachment - two key pillars in Yoga Philosophy. You do not need a partner, nor do you need to perform for anyone. What emerges in your dance is an expression of what’s inside you: tune in to what needs to be moved, released, recognized or seen. SUN ROOM CEREMONY & CHILL ZONE We will open with a cacao ceremony to mark the change of season, open the heart and connect with community. During the live music set, if you need a moment to chill or chat, head into the sun room. Cushions, blankets and all the supportive props are there for your comfort. Along with oracle corner, an art corner and meditative space to just breathe. THE FLOW OF EVENTS Upon entering the building on the ground floor, you'll proceed to the stairs and walk up to the second level. Please remove your shoes in the hallway and head into the studio with your socks or barefeet only. No shoes permitted in the studio or on the dance floor. Follow the sign to connect with our volunteers who will check you in, give you a lay of the land (locations of the change rooms, bathrooms, hydration station, Sun Room & Dancing Room) and then set you free to be cleansed. The event will start in circle with community and a cacao ceremony. This practice will connect us with the heart, community and earth as it goes through its seasonal change. Opening with this event has been a magical experience every time and we can’t wait to see you all there with us in circle. Following the ceremony, we will move into the Hot Room where DJ SAMMY C will take you on a journey to awaken the mind, body & spirit. Drums, horns, bass, bells, afro, tribal, organic & melodic house beats. To finish the evening, we will make our way down to sit or lay on the dance floor in quiet contemplation. Here we allow the space for integration of the sound and season. We will then close in circle, share details for the next event and anything in between, leaving minutes for you to connect with your hosts or fellow ecstatic dancers. *We always do our best to keep to our outlined schedule of events but with anything we are open to pivot and adapt where necessary. In these moments of “in-between” please practice contemplation, connection, observation or inner reflection taking in the energy of the yoga studio.
