Healing with Parts Work: An Internal Family Systems Workshop | Dundas Driving Park
Jul 17, 2025 (UTC-4)
Lake Hamilton
Join us for a workshop that invites us to slow down, turn inward, and gently explore the inner patterns and parts that shape our experiences of ourselves and others - through the lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS). Together, we’ll explore how our “parts” - aspects of our psyche - carry stories, roles, and energy shaped by both our individual experiences and collective histories, including cultural, ancestral, and societal influences. Through a blend of didactic learning and experiential exploration, we will cultivate pathways to self-connection, healing, and integration.
In this 2-hour workshop, you’ll:
Be introduced to the foundational concepts of IFS
Explore how parts form, why they protect us, and how they can transform - influenced by personal, ancestral, and collective histories
Experience guided exercises to connect with your parts
Have space to reflect, share, and ask questions
This is a welcoming space for all, and no previous experience is required to join us.
About Your Facilitator:
Nina is a mother, singer, and Registered Psychotherapist in private practice, specializing in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and body-oriented psychotherapy for women. She is passionate about embodied healing as a catalyst for personal and collective transformation and liberation. A lifelong learner, Nina holds an MSc in Psychology and Neuroscience of Mental Health, an MA in Counselling Psychology, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Somatic Psychology. Though deeply informed by formal study, her greatest teacher has been her own personal healing journey. Her philosophy is rooted in wholeness and integration – honouring healing as a return to our forgotten parts and an embodiment of the true Self.
No one will be turned away for lack of funds — reach out if cost is a barrier, and we’ll provide subsidies. hamiltonpsychedelic@gmail.com

Tusk Love Book Club @ The Bard and Bear | The Bard and Bear Games Cafe Hamilton, James Street North, Hamilton, ON, Canada
Jul 21, 2025 (UTC-4)
Lake Hamilton
Join fellow Critters, literature lovers, and Dr. Megan Suttie for an evening of conversation about Thea Guanzon's new Critical Role-inspired novel
Tusk Love
. We'll chat about Romantasy as a genre, brands expanding into new product categories, and – of course – the love story of the half-orc Oskar and Guinevere, the merchant's daughter.
Each ticket includes your admission to the evening, a drink, and a Jester Lavorre-approved blueberry cupcake!
What is
Tusk Love
?
As author Thea Guanzon puts it, Tusk Love is "a tale within a tale." With its origins as character Jester Lavorre's favourite in-world book, what began as a running joke in Campaign 2 of the wildly-popular D&D live play show Critical Role is now a full-on book out in the world. Here's the official blurb:
A merchant’s daughter who yearns for adventure gets more than she bargained for when she falls for a broodingly handsome stranger in this saucy romantasy from the
New York Times
bestselling author of
The Hurricane Wars
.
Who is Dr. Megan Suttie?
You probably know her as the co-owner of The Bard and Bear Games Cafe – but before opening up the business, Megan defended her PhD in English literature at McMaster, making her Dr. Suttie! And what was her area of research expertise, you may ask? Fantasy fiction!
The event will begin at 7 pm, but we welcome you to arrive at 6:30 to settle in and collect your drink and snack (though our kitchen and bar will also be open throughout the evening).

SOLD OUT -Doan Girls Retreat - MSQC - Retreat Center - July 22 - 25, 2025 | This event will be held at the Missouri Star Quilt Company Retreat Center.
Jul 22, 2025 (UTC-5)
Lake Hamilton
Join Natalie and Misty Doan for four fun-filled days of sewing, laughter, and love at a 2025 Doan Girls Retreat in Hamilton, Missouri (Quilt Town USA)!! This fantastic duo will inspire you by teaching you two projects as well as sharing stories about their lives, their family, and their sewing journey.
Natalie and Misty are putting the final touches on what they are teaching soon, but rest assured, their projects are incredible and new for 2025. All the fabric you need to complete the two projects will be supplied to you in a kit at the retreat, so all you need to bring are your favorite sewing notions or supplies. You can either bring your own sewing machine or you can reserve one of ours online - the choice is yours! And don't forget, Missouri Star has 16 quilt shops in Hamilton, so if you forget something or just want to shop 'til you drop, we have you covered!
While Natalie and Misty will keep you busy - please bring projects to work on. We love seeing what you are creating and we give you plenty of time for open sewing (the perfect chance to tackle that stack of UFOs)! And while not mandatory to participate, we always have our Show & Tell on Thursday evenings, so bring something that you want to share (or maybe you want to share something you made while at retreat). Show and Tell is always a highlight of the week for everyone - quilting can be so personal and the stories told always give us all the warm and fuzzies?
So what can you expect during the Doan Girls Retreat (besides hours and hours of fellowship and sewing)?
Sleeping Rooms -
all rooms are upstairs and are shared - there are no private rooms available and a chair lift is available for assistance. There are two ADA rooms available upon request.
Meals -
Dinner will be served on Tuesday evening. A continental breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday morning, enjoy a hot "farewell" breakfast before you check out and get on the road! Of course, for you early birds Monday evening, a continental breakfast will be served Tuesday morning.
Snacks -
We set out a snack table - because sewing definitely makes us all snack-y. We provide light snacks for the group but if there is something particular you crave, feel free to bring it.
Sewing Table Seating -
We do have assigned seating for the well-lit sewing tables (personal sewing lamps are optional). If you are traveling with a friend or friends and would like to sit together - no problem? Please just indicate this on your registration form with the names of the people you wish to sit by. We also provide cutting/ironing tables, and power strips.
Sewing Machines -
As we have said above, you are welcome to bring your own sewing machine (don't forget all your cords)!! But if you want to travel light, you can absolutely use one of our machines at a cost of $75 for the duration of the retreat. If you do need to reserve a machine, please indicate this on your registration form.
We know things happen, but if for some reason you need to cancel after you have booked your reservation, please let us know as soon as possible. The retreat is only fully refundable 60 days in advance of the start date. In the event that you are past the 60-day notice and are unable to attend, you may transfer your reservation to someone else or move to another retreat at a later date.
If you need to cancel, please email us at retreats@missouriquiltco.com or call us at (816) 265-1812.
