Jun 14, 2025 (UTC+0)
Hampton
Examining and Expanding your Art Practice Join artists Kate Howe & Sally Minns in a dynamic workshop exploring, challenging, and deepening artistic practice for lifelong creative growth. The workshop will focus on the questions around what it means to have an artistic practice. How do we find less struggle and more joy in our practices as we keep them curious, thriving and authentically connected? What is Cultural Reforesting? Richmond Arts & Ideas Festival is communities coming together through dance, music, outdoor experiences, theatre, visual art, discussion forums and imagination. An expansive, collaborative, interdisciplinary programme across 40 partners, 2 weeks and 70 experiences and events, will fill the borough with arts and ideas for its second outing, the first joyous success that last look place during the Summer of 2023. Building on the colour and energy of past festivals, this year’s, in June 2025, takes on the theme of Cultural Reforesting, and asks the question: how can we renew our relationship with nature?

RuptureXIBIT SparkCrit: Cultural Reforesting in Process | RuptureXIBIT (+Studio)
Jun 15, 2025 (UTC+0)
Hampton
Artist crits are often absent from our professional practices post education, so following the success of our group crits during our open call shows and residencies, we're currently focusing the energies of the studio on artists developing their individual practices. Alongside bespoke practice mentoring, we have found crits to be the most powerful tool to help artists at all stages of their careers. This crit will be held in the intimacy of our back studio space, where Kate and Sally will lead the sharing of work and supportive discussion with other artists. NOTE: Please bring up to 1 piece of work or images of the work and a packed lunch. At RuptureXIBIT, we invite you to join us for a rigorous and supportive investigation into deepening and developing your art practice.
Our workshops are appropriate for artists at any stage of their development, (you don’t need to be formally trained), but involve a rigorous, transparent, honest conversation about life in the generative. We are here to help you build (or re-examine and re-build) a supportive framework for your creative practice.
Open to artists, musicians, writers, all who have or want to further their relationship to creative and acrobatic thinking. Every session is bespoke to the artists who join us, so if you’ve come to a previous session, keep coming back and the conversation will evolve with you. Bring hard questions and an open mind and let's get to work! TESTIMONIALS: The critique event expanded my perspective on my artistic identity, allowing me the freedom to discuss my art openly. It also sparked a curiosity to explore my work through performance and mixed media. Kate and Sally's dedication to what they do at Rupture is a pure joy and an inspiration. Thank you for creating a space where artists can thrive and be celebrated. This experience has ignited my passion to continue my artistic journey with newfound confidence and creativity.” - Anna I’m especially impressed by the critique session Rupture organized; we got to share insights about our works. It was very supportive and helpful. - Boyuan
