Kootenay Fun 5 2025 | Kootenay Christian Academy
May 3, 2025 (UTC-7)
Cranbrook
It's the 10th annual Kooteny Fun 5! Join us on Saturday May 3, 2025 for our community's well-loved 5 km walk/run at Kootenay Christian Academy! Last year's event was enormously successful with over 650 registrants! The TENTH annual KootenayFun5 in Cranbrook is sure to be another successful event. To celebrate 10 years, we are offering two athletic events! The Orignial Walk/Run - Sign up for all the fun and excitement you've come to expect from this great event, which includes event t-shirt, swag bag, and timing chip for the first 500 registrants! Our regular annual race features a scenic 5K, mainly flat and fast course. This is the perfect race for novice and experienced runners, joggers and walkers alike. Safe and friendly for kids of all ages, allowing everyone in the family to join in on the fun. After completing the race, all participants are invited to stay for the post-race festivities with bbq, award ceremony and much more. Or.... The Last Man Standing - choose to join us for a new challenge to celebrate 10 years! We are hosting an additional race only for those crazy enough to try! A backyard ultramarathon , known as Last Man Standing, will take place in addition to the regular Kootenay Fun 5 and will require the purchase of a seperate ticket, if you dare! Here's how it works: Runners who sign up for this backyard ultra need to complete an approximate six kilometre loop, with the same start and finish line as the KF5, but looping up into the community forest. This will happen every hour, on the hour - over and over until only one athlete remains! If you can finish the loop in under 60 minutes, you can choose to line up at the start line for another round! This is an event like none other in the running world! Why on earth would someone do something so crazy, you might ask? It's the challenge of reaching your own goal! Even though there is only one winner, all participants strive for their personal best, whether that's two loops, or ten! Be prepared to push against your limits and break through them! All Last Man Standing racers, except one, will receive a DNF mug (Did Not Finish), a trophy of sorts that symbolizes the overcoming of each one's physical and mental limits! The first 500 registrants receive a Kootenay Fun 5 t-shirt and swag bag. All participants receive a race bib with timing chip. Last Man Standing racers will receive all the perks of KF5 registrants like t-shirt and swag bag, plus a DNF mug (unless you're the last one!). The top three male and female runners in each age category will win a medal and the top overall male and female runners will receive a new pair of running shoes from Gerick Sports! About Ethan Askey & the Elevators -
Allow yourself the opportunity to travel in time and space with Ethan Askey & The Elevators,
raising the roof at Encore Brewing Co. on May 10!
They will draw you deep into their tasty tales of faraway places, love gone wrong, and whistling
past the graveyard. Still new as a band, they are reaching audiences around the world with their
colour-outside-the-lines original music that features electric harmonica, slide guitar, and
harmony vocals. This band also can transport you virtually to a southside Chicago club in the
‘60s or reinvent an '80s hit as a barn-burner blues boogie for a dance party like nobody else!
Bandleader, singer and award-winning musician Ethan Askey had long apprenticed as a sideman
playing in western Canada, USA and Europe, and earned a place on global blues and roots radio
play charts as a solo artist, before forming this powerful new quartet. Individually, the band
members are no strangers to regional and international stages, drawing from a diversity of
musical genres: Mike Honeyman on bass; Ben Dunn on drums and backing vocals; Keith Larsen
on guitars and vocals; and Ethan Askey on lead vocals, harmonicas, horn, and guitar.
Don’t miss the Encore debut of Ethan Askey & the Elevators, going up!
