Song of the Hill | St Laurence's Church, Ludlow
May 9, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Ludlow
This year, composer and musician Sid Peacock has been working with the local community to co-create new songs and music exploring the history and communities of Clee Hill, in his role as Songwriter in Residence for St John’s Doddington, part of their ‘Beacon on the Hill’ outreach and heritage project. Join us for a magical evening of music, story and song where you can expect to hear songs about giants battling, the local rugby club and pub, Bobby's shop and of course the natural beauty and the local communities' love for their home. The show will also feature music and tales of ancient Clee, Dennis Crowther, wartime Clee and local historian Alf Jenkins. Featuring pupils from Clee Hill Community Academy, the Ludlow Larks Choir, a funky live-band of Surge Orchestra musicians and stunning visuals that have been filmed specially for the event. All are welcome as we come together to celebrate the communities and history of Clee Hill and premiere this new music. Generously funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England.
