May 31, 2025 (UTC+0)
Weston
this workshop is for beginners and improvers. If you've already done some tetrapak printing then come along and learn about adding ink and chine colle colour. And you can even try cutting your plate into an intersting shape and cut holes in it.... One step at a time, there is alwasy something new to learn! If youre a beginner let me show you through the whole concept! Its fun, easy and doesn't have the danger of metal plates! We print small on a 3D printed microprinter so you can make images for gift tags, card and cards or mount the images as they are! It's quite messy so wear old clothes and bring a pack of wet wipes and an apron!

An Afternoon with Ruth Jones - By Your Side | The Holroyd Community Theatre
May 22, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Weston
BAFTA winning co-creator of Gavin & Stacey, Ruth Jones returns to Oswestry! We’re thrilled to announce an event with much loved actress, screenwriter and bestselling author, Ruth Jones, for her new novel, ‘By Your Side’. Linda and Levi will never meet. But they’re going to change each other’s lives. In her role at the council’s Unclaimed Heirs Unit, Linda Standish investigates the lives of those who’ve died alone and tracks down any living relatives. She’s been a friend to the friendless for the past thirty-three years. And now she’s looking forward to an early retirement. But before she hangs up her lanyard, Linda must take on one last case – that of Levi Norman Jones – a Welshman who’d made his home on a remote Scottish island for the past five years. What brought Levi here? And who did he leave behind? Obliged to travel (by hearse) with her arch nemesis Fergus Murray, and helped (and hindered) by the eccentric local residents, Linda searches for clues to a life now lost. And in the process unexpectedly makes new friends, and discovers things about herself she never knew. Bursting with all the heart and humour that has made Ruth’s name as a screenwriter and author, By Your Side is about finding joy in the most unlikely connections, and the importance of holding onto friendship, love and community – especially when life gets messy. Ruth Jones MBE is best known for her outstanding and award-winning television writing – BBC 1’s Gavin and Stacey, in which she played the incorrigible Nessa Jenkins, and Sky 1’s Stella. She has numerous other television credits to her name. Now, the author of ‘Never Greener’, ‘Us Three’, and ‘Love Untold’, publishes her new novel, ‘By Your Side’ - a joyful and life-affirming story with characters you’ll come to know and love, shining a compassionate light on human nature and why we make the mistakes we do. We can’t wait to welcome Ruth back to Oswestry for this afternoon event. Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to see her! An Evening with Reeta Chakrabarti - Finding Belle | The Holroyd Community Theatre
May 14, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Weston
Join us for an evening with journalist and Chief Presenter for BBC news, Reeta Chakrabarti, as she talks about her career and her debut novel Finding Belle. What will it take to uncover her past? A lost child. When Mivvi is young, her mother Belle is a puzzle: beautiful, troubled, and, terrifyingly, increasingly disconnected from the world. A displaced mother. Belle came to England upon her marriage, a whirlwind romance from the beaches of Mombasa to the English suburbs. But far from friends and family, her life and love affair began to crumble. A family secret. As Mivvi grows up in the shadow of her mother's illnesses and her father's absences, she must reconnect the pieces that her mother scattered. Can she uncover the secrets clouding their past – and in doing so rewrite her own story? Travelling from the beaches of Mombasa to the suburbs of England and then on to the teeming streets of Kolkata, a powerful story of mothers and daughters, betrayal and madness and a child who must forge her own identity. We're thrilled to be hosting this event with Reeta to celebrate the publication of her debut novel and look forward to welcoming her to Oswestry to tell her story! Event Format: Author talk 'in conversation' followed by audience Q&A and book signing Tickets: £18 (Admits One, includes a copy of Finding Belle) or £28 (Admits Two , includes One copy of Finding Belle) Venue: The Holroyd Community Theatre is accessed off the Gledrid junction of the A5 north of Oswestry and is sign posted off Station Road (left turn before railway crossing).
