Improviser, director, and UWaterloo instructor Ben Gorodetsky is offering a playful, in-person introduction to spontaneous creativity. Over the course of 10 hours of instruction this hands-on workshop series will cover listening, storytelling, character, humour, cooperation, and presence. No experience necessary! They are curator and host of KW monthly mainstays: Pinch Cabaret and Together We're Boisterous Comedy. Ben has performed, taught, and directed improvisation at The Magnet Theatre (NYC), Out of Bounds Comedy (Austin), UCB (LA), Highwire Comedy (Atlanta), English Lovers (Vienna), IGLU (Ljubljana), FERIIR (Reunion Island), Bad Dog (Toronto), and Blind Tiger (Vancouver). His performance work has been presented by The Art Gallery of Ontario, CAFKA, Lumen Fest, Movement Research at Judson Church, The Tank NYC, Mile Zero Dance, Brian Webb Dance Company, Expanse Festival of Movement Arts, Rubaboo Festival, Guelph Dance Festival, SpringWorks, and the Gas Station Arts Centre. They are creator and executive producer of TV series My Pet Ate What? for CTV/Bell Media. Ben is the former Associate Artistic Director of Rapid Fire Theatre a nominee for a Canadian Comedy Award. Welcome to Freshwalks.This event is part of our vibrant Merseyside business community programme delivered in collaboration with Haines Watts,Bathgate Business Finance and Cummins Financial Advisers. Everyone is welcome to join us for a day of hiking and networking in the great outdoors. Feel free to come alone - most Freshwalkers do - and you'll be warmly welcomed or invite a colleague or client along for company. Route description The walk begins outside Waterloo Sunset Cafe, close to Marine Lake. We’ll head straight for the seafront to join the Sefton coastal path, walking in the direction of Crosby Beach, permanent home to ‘Another Place’, the sculpture by internationally acclaimed artist, Antony Gormley. Passing through Crosby we’ll walk along the coast, close to Blundellsands and Hall Road stations, offering slightly later options to join our group. We’ve suggested the RNLI station on Crosby Beach as a fixed meeting point 4km into our route, accessible from Hall Road station (7 mins walk). We then cut inland temporarily to circumnavigate Altcar rifle range before a final stretch of beach along Formby Point. We plan to end our walk at The Freshfield public house and will pass the train station en-route (7 mins walk away) where you can head back to Liverpool or the start of the walk. Make sure you buy a return ticket to Freshfield which is where we return from.
