Intro to linocut printmaking | Stampalofi
Jul 5, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Centre
Welcome to Intro to linocut printmaking! Come along to Stampalofi for a hands-on workshop where you'll learn the art of linocut printmaking. In this event, you'll discover the basics of carving your design into linoleum blocks and creating your first beautiful prints. No experience is necessary, just bring your creativity and enthusiasm! The workshop will start with an introduction to the materials and straight away get inky as we will need the first layers to dry while we get carving. The next step is a practice block with some simple exercises to make carving the final design so much easier and you more confident you will make something you like. We have the opportunity to have a break or to keep at it if you are being swept away with the process (this can definitely happen as it is quite addictive!). After the break the rest of the session is spent working on your personal project and finishing up by printing more independently (but always with a guiding hand if needed). At the end of this workshop, each participant will have their own print run of lino printed art, and a carved lino block that they can take home to continue their creative journey. Participants will leave with the knowledge and skills necessary for personal projects. Participants are also invited to remain in the Stampa Lofi studio after the workshop end to make any amendments to their block. The workshop is most fun (and to make it as cheap as possible) in groups. Therefore if there are only a couple of participants I will ask you kindly if it is possible to be flexible on dates and join another group if necessary. Thank you so much for understanding!

Over the years, she has cultivated a teaching style that encourages intuitive movement, playfulness, and curiosity – both on and off the mat. Watercolour Seascapes for Beginners with Emma Louise Wilson | Greyhope Bay Centre
Jul 15, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
Centre
Join Deemouth Artist, Emma Wilson, at the Greyhope Bay Centre as she guides you through the beginner techniques of watercolour painting with the sweeping views of Aberdeen's coast as your inspiration. All materials will be supplied. About the workshop In this workshop, tutor Emma Wilson will take participants through the basics of using watercolours to create beautiful abstract landscapes and seascapes, utilising the amazing views from the Greyhope Bay centre. The workshop will cover techniques such as how to control the paint and the water, how to add texture and movement, and how to use different brushes. We will also cover how to observe and record the surrounding environment on paper, how to frame it and work out the best composition using pencil. This workshop is perfect for beginners as we won’t be seeking to create paintings which show the view in exact detail, but instead creating paintings which capture the feeling of the landscape. During the workshop participants will create lots of sketches and studies before moving onto at least one final painting. No previous experience is required, this workshop is suitable for all levels, from those who have never painted before to those who would just like to paint the fabulous views from the centre with some guidance and advice. About the artist Emma Louise Wilson is a silversmith, jeweller and enameller from Aberdeen and graduate of Gray’s School of Art. Taking inspiration from the landscapes and seascapes around the North East, Emma creates fine silver and enamel jewellery as well as hand raised bowls in either fine silver or copper with enamel decoration at her workshop at Deemouth Artist Studios in Torry. Emma’s work begins in the landscape, taking photographs of the huge Scottish skies, the hills and the sea, paying attention to where the land meets the sky and where the light hits the sea. The photographs then inform the drawings and watercolour paintings she produces back in her studio, and these in turn are referenced when Emma begins working in the enamel and silver. She loves to use traditional techniques like hand-raising and enamelling in a contemporary way producing work which is beautiful and modern and something to be treasured. Tickets: Crew members and adults over 65 years of age receive a 30% discount ** Please note that tickets cancelled within 48 hours of the event start time will not be eligible for a refund** Find out more about becoming a Crew member and supporting the work we do as a charity here All ticket proceeds support future workshops like this one as part of the Greyhope Bay Community Programme.

Experience the power of sound and breath in this heart opening and grounding event. During the session, be immersed in the deep resonance of didjeridu, ethnic flutes, handpan, drums and otherworldly voice. The instruments are played in a specific way to help your body relax and release tension. The vibrations can also stimulate different areas of the brain and nervous system, helping to alleviate symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, and more. This sound healing can be an effective tool for improving sleep, reducing pain, and promoting overall well-being. This sound journey is suitable for beginners wanting to experience sound therapy, as well for people interested to experience a unique sound immersion. It is intended to have a transformative effect, leaving you feeling a deep sense of peacefulness, connection and introspection. Tall Ships Watercolour Seascapes for Beginners with Emma Louise Wilson | Greyhope Bay Centre
Jul 19, 2025 (UTC+0)ENDED
