Exhibition on the occasion of the publication of Erik de Graaf's graphic novel of the same name. The graphic novelist honours the famous painter with a colourful story about the last eventful years of his life in Paris, London and New York. On view now until 13 April 2025. Almost everyone knows Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) as the revolutionary painter of red, white, blue and yellow planes divided between tight black lines. Less well known is that the artist saw it as his task to strive for balance and harmony in his compositions, as a blueprint for a better world. The exhibition Mondrian, a better world, on show from 19 October at the Mondrian House, explores Mondrian's philosophical and idealistic side. The occasion for this exhibition is the publication of Erik de Graaf's graphic novel of the same name. In the fist-sized publication, the graphic novelist depicts how Mondrian spent the last 11 years of his life moving from Paris, to London and eventually to New York, fleeing the rising tide of Nazism in Europe. Against the backdrop of World War II, Mondrian continued to search until his death for a way to bring light to the increasing darkness in the world.

In 2025 is een hele concertreeks van Muziek op de Berg aan Bach gewijd. Grote Orgelmis Johan Sebastiaan Bach schreef zijn Grote Orgelmis in 1739 ter gelegenheid van het toen 200e gedenkjaar van de reformatie in Leipzig meelezen met BachCees-Willem van Vliet, veelzijdig kerkmusicus en cantor-organist bij de Bergkerk neemt ons mee in de achtergronden van dit werk, zowel door zijn spel als door zijn nadere duiding van de partituur die wordt geprojecteerd. Want stiekem weet je dat het verwoorden van je ideeën, fantasieën en idiote observaties je echt heel blij maakt. Je kunt geen rondje lopen of er schiet je een zin te binnen. Je vangt een flard op van een terrasgesprek, en weet: dit is pure comedy. Je bladert door een oud foto-album en denkt: zo’n familieverhaal als het mijne, daar móet ik toch iets mee? Vathorst zoekt jong poptalent - workshop Net als vorige jaren doen we dit in 2025 ook weer in Vathorst. Muzikanten tussen de 10 en 14 jaar krijgen een workshop waaruit een bandje voortkomt dat wordt gecoached naar een optreden op het grote podium van het Vathorst Grachtenconcert. Spotlight Concert ‘Fun, fun, fun’ Scholen in de Kunst Amersfoort (SidK) en het Nederlands Jeugd Strijk Orkest (NJSO) slaan de handen ineen voor een feestelijk programma. Voor Scholen in de Kunst staat samenspel centraal. Vanaf les één krijgt iedereen wekelijks een groeps- én individuele les. Al vanaf het tweede jaar spelen alle strijkersleerlingen samen in het Juniorenorkest. Vervolgens stromen zij op hun eigen tempo door in de ‘orkestladder’; het Jeugd- en Symfonieorkest en later in de studentenorkesten. Ook bij het NJSO staat het speelplezier voorop. Er wordt wekelijks hard gewerkt aan uitdagende programma’s, met volop aandacht voor muzikale zeggingskracht, klankvorming, intonatie en kamermuzikaal samenspel. Dirigent Carel den Hertog begon met vioolspelen bij Scholen in de Kunst Amersfoort en stroomde via de jeugdorkesten van de muziekschool door naar het NJSO. Hij is blij en trots dat hij nu voor de ESTA de lange leerlijn van Scholen in de Kunst kan presenteren in samenwerking met het NJSO. Deze samenwerking tussen de leerlingen van Scholen in de Kunst en het NJSO draait om verbinding en wederzijdse inspiratie en vooral om speelplezier op alle niveaus. Op het programma staan werken van Purcell, filmmuziek van James Horner en twee Nederlandse componisten. Pieter Hellendaal was voor zijn doorbraak als organist en componist in London lange tijd violist in een herberg tussen Amsterdam en Haarlem. In zijn Concerti Grossi hoor je een violist aan het werk die weet hoe hij zijn publiek kan ontroeren en vermaken. Hendrik Andriessen was een begenadigd componist. In zijn Variaties en fuga op een thema van Johann Kuhnau weet hij alle kleuren van het strijkorkest te benutten. Het programma besluit met een werk dat deze samenwerking het beste samenvat; Fun, fun, fun! NJSO met SidK orkesten Junioren, Jeugd, Symfonie Kom genieten van een bijzondere muzikale ervaring met het Nederlands Jeugd Strijk Orkest, onder leiding van de ervaren dirigent Carel den Hartog. Samen met de getalenteerde leerlingen van Scholen in de Kunst brengen ze een schitterend programma ten gehore. Het optreden vindt plaats in de sfeervolle Sint Franciscus Xaveriuskerk, een prachtige setting voor een onvergetelijke middag vol klassieke klanken. Het StrijkOrkest Festival Dit concert maakt deel uit van 'het Strijkorkest Festival' in Amersfoort, een initiatief van ESTA 2025, powered by Havikconcerten. Van 28 mei t/m 31 mei brengen acht concerten op bijzondere locaties de kracht en veelzijdigheid van strijkinstrumenten tot leven. Met optredens in de Sint Aegtenkapel, de Sint Joriskerk, de St. Franciscus Xaveriuskerk en Flint wordt de stad vier dagen lang ondergedompeld in prachtige strijkersklanken.
