Keep Your Gin Up: British Gins | Metro Liquor Store Saskatoon
Jun 26, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Saskatoon
Gin's rise to fame is a tale as rich as the spirit itself—and, let’s be honest, gin’s always been a bit of a troublemaker. It all started in the 1500s when the English, embroiled in a few tiffs with Spain in the Netherlands, decided to give juniper-infused spirits a go. Little did they know, they were creating the drink that would become Britain’s liquid obsession.
As gin spread across Britain like gossip at a village fête, British sailors took it with them on their voyages. The result? The invention of the Gimlet (born from an urgent need to fend off scurvy with lime) and the Gin and Tonic (created, let’s face it, as a way to choke down quinine without grimacing).
From the no-nonsense Old Tom Cat, to the crisp sophistication of London Dry, and all the quirky, modern gin styles that are now enjoyed around the world—British gin has come a long way. So why not join the ranks of gin aficionados and raise a glass to this storied, slightly mischievous spirit?
Keep calm and gin on!

House of Apollo | Remai Modern
Jun 27, 2025 (UTC-6)ENDED
Saskatoon
We’re going back to our roots! House of Apollo honours the legacy of chosen families, and the power of community in claiming space. In a time where our rights are being threatened globally and locally, House of Apollo is a reminder that we’ve always been here, queer, and resilient. Before there were gay bars in Saskatoon, queer people found safety and community in places like the Apollo Room—a discrete bar tucked inside the former Ritz Hotel. Named after the Apollo 11 mission, the bar became an unlikely space for the queer community to connect. On June 27th we want to reconnect with you and all of our pals. You don’t want to miss this one, it’s gonna be out of this world. Proceeds for this event will benefit Saskatoon Sexual Health, an organization that provides safe and inclusive sexual health services to Saskatoon and the surrounding area.
Tickets: $15 early bird until Friday June 6th, $30 regular, $35 @ door (limited quantity) plus applicable fees + taxes.
